DIVE IN FOR FREE FUN

Sunday is looking good for one last swim, maybe even Monday too, before our outdoor pool season draws to a close.

The outdoor pools in Broadford, Seymour and Tallarook and the Wallan splash park at the Community Bank ® Adventure Playground, will close for the season at 6pm on Monday.

Although we didn’t have a lot of warm weather this summer, it was fantastic to see our community coming together to enjoy free entry to our outdoor pools this season. Thank you to everyone who came along. See you next year.

SPORTS VOUCHERS Helping families cover sports costs

The Victorian Government has launched the Get Active Kids Voucher program to help eligible families get their kids involved in organised sport and recreation activities by reimbursing the cost of membership and registration, uniforms and equipment.

And, the great news is these vouchers can be used with our Learn To Swim programs.

Eligible children may be able to receive up to $200 each. Children must be aged 4 to 18 and named on a valid Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card and Medicare Card, or meet the Special Consideration criteria to be eligible.

The program will be delivered across four rounds from now until 17 April 2022.

LET'S DO OUR BIT Join in Clean Up Australia Day

Community groups, schools and businesses across Mitchell Shire are stepping up to clean up for Clean Up Australia Day this weekend, and residents are encouraged to roll up their sleeves and get involved as well.

The day gives residents the chance to showcase their community pride by coming together to improve the appearance of local public spaces while supporting the environment at the same time.

Bring a hat, gloves, sunscreen, drinking water and wear closed toe shoes.

COVID RECOVERY Have your say on next steps

There are a few days left for people to have their say on Mitchell Shire’s draft COVID recovery plan, with community members, groups and organisations encouraged to get involved.

Developed over six months and based on an impact analysis and input from community groups, organisations and service providers late last year, the plan identifies seven priority support areas: active communities; gender responsiveness; local jobs and investments; re-engaging in education and training; access to services; climate consciousness and housing options to support health and wellbeing outcomes.

The actions aim to support COVID recovery, address disadvantage and encourage reconnection.
