New Town Retail Precinct UpgradeJune UpdateOur civil works team has moved into the first section of the precinct upgrade, part of the design that is a response to the recommendations made by the community project action team. Design elements such as paving and planting beds will start to appear soon. Completed WorksFootpath renewal works at 98 New Town Road are complete including new kerb and gutter. Th pedestrian threshold across the Pedder St-New Town Rd intersection is finished providing a smooth obsatcle free surface along this section of road. Current worksExcavation works at 98-100 New Town Road for the construction of garden beds and paving is underway. The crew encounter many complex issues when they dig underground that take time to sort through, for example the lowering of essential services to allow for paving to be laid on top. Construction has moved to directly in front of shopfronts now. The City of Hobart project team work closely with individual businesses to ensure access is maintained at all time. In the images right platforms have been placed down to ensure pedestrians can access doorways. If businesses require signage to assist customers find their way through the works to their front door, please contact Louisa Gordon on the contact details at the bottom of this email. Upcoming worksWe are forecasting the completion of precinct paving works and proceed to footpath renewal works up to 108 New Town Road by mid June 2019. The current bus stop located in front of 110 New Town Rd will be temporary relocated by Metro. It shall be reinstated once this section of footpath is replaced.
