Major civil works outside the businesses at 93 New Town Road have now been completed with feature paving and a custom concrete seat (picture below) installed. Crews have crossed Pirie Street and have commenced the upgrade of the other side which will feature an improved pedestrian crossing and public art. Impacts on on-street parkingWe understand the loss of on-street parking impacts the ability of local businesses and residents to go about their daily lives. While we try and minimise this impact, we also need to ensure the safety of the community and our workers, and to keep traffic flowing through this busy road. Unfortunately there are times when loss of parking will be experienced on both sides of the road. This ensures there is enough space for both the works to be undertaken and for traffic to remain flowing in both directions. Public art - under constructionThe team recently took a site visit to local fabricators at Dynamic Welding to check out the progress on the Hybrids public artwork by artist Matt Drysdale. These sculptural landmarks will offer practical functions for the precinct including seating, planting and places for posting community notices.
