CAASPP Text ErrorVarious schools in California recently received CAASPP (California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress) score reports containing a text error. ETS has resolved the text error on the reports, and is sending correct versions of the reports to schools in September. Smarter Balanced ELA and Math score reports will be shared with families once the corrected copies are received by the school. UDA AthleticsFifth through 8th grade athletics will begin this Thursday, September 7! UDA is offering girls volleyball and coed cross country. Practice will run from 3:30-5pm on the UDA rooftop, and students will have the opportunity to meet their coaches then. Medical and Liability Release forms must be turned in to Coach Lynch before the first practice. Hard copies have been sent home, and are also available in the front office. STEAMLast week, second graders created and reviewed STEAM safety norms and worked in teams to build colorful towers. Students in 8th grade worked on a trifecta of projects. They refined team building and communication skills through a pyramid cup stacking challenge, created accounts and began exploring tinkercad in order to begin using the new 3D printers, and learned about Arduino and the limitless applications it can have with Julio. Visual ArtsKinder students are working on motor skills while creating art with circles and lines. Third GradeThird graders are already hard at work on their first balloon-related mini-project as they learn the steps involved in the engineering design process! Students planned with their teams before building, testing, and analyzing their designs. After testing, students reflected on their roles in the process. The most impressive part of the process was seeing how well teams collaborated and worked together to problem solve and find different solutions to the same question. Sixth GradeSixth grade students dove into team building on the first day of school with engineering challenges!
