Dr. Don Berwick

Mark your calendars for October 24th. Dr. Donald Berwick, a passionate advocate for improving health care, will be a keynote speaker at our annual conference, Health Quality Transformation 2017 at the Metro Convention Centre in Toronto.

Dr. Berwick is President Emeritus and Senior Fellow at the Institute for Healthcare Improvement, former administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, and an international leader in health care.

Registration opens in September. Stay tuned for more information on how and when to register.

New Guide: Engaging Patients in Patient Safety

We partnered with The Canadian Patient Safety Institute and the Atlantic Health Quality and Patient Safety Collaborative to develop a new online resource. It's a guide illustrating how to effectively engage with patients to improve patient safety and tested by patient advisors and health professionals across the country. Learn how patient engagement can lead to safer care and successful health outcomes.

Ontario Health Technology Advisory Committee

Join the Ontario Health Technology Committee

We are seeking applications from individuals interested in joining the Ontario Health Technology Advisory Committee. The committee reviews new and existing health care services and medical devices then makes recommendations on whether or not they should be publicly funded.

We’ll be accepting volunteer applications until June 30, 2017.

Quorum: Online Community Shares Opioid Strategy and Lessons

A lively discussion on Quorum is revealing how hospitals, Local Health Integration Networks (LHINs) and family health teams are tackling the issue of opioid use. Quorum is an online forum for the quality improvement community to share, learn and innovate together.

The Emergency Department Return Visit Quality Program helps clinicians and hospitals identify and study return visits to their emergency departments within 72 hours or within one week for key diagnoses.

This inaugural report is about return visits across Ontario.
