New Town Retail Precinct Upgrade

August Update

Completed and Current Works

Kerb and footpath works have been completed between 114 and 118 New Town Road.  Renewal works will continue on the city outbound footpaths along 113 to 99 New Town Road.

Civil construction crews continue streetscape upgrades at the Pirie Street - New Town Road intersection.  The node will  feature a resting place, greenery, feature paving and improved pedestrian access.

Upcoming work

A separate storm water upgrade project will commence on Monday 26 August in front of 20-21 Seymour Street.  The upgrade works also involve construction of stormwater pipes within private properties.  The owners have been consulted and the works will be completed by the end of October 2019.

Plans for the New Year

We anticipate that the next stage of works will commence in early 2020.  This stage will include the precinct upgrades from the Salvation Army to Cross St.   The current works should be completed by late November, early December.  This is part of our plan to minimise work during the busy Christmas period so as not to impact businesses and residents throughout the holiday season.  We appreciate your ongoing support and patience.
