Thank you to everyone who came out to Funderland!

On June 21st, we opened up Funderland Amusement Park for our families and community for an evening to enjoy rides, games, face painting, food, drinks, crafts and a whole lot of fun.  More families than ever came out to near perfect weather.

We had an amazing team of volunteers from Carmax, Rabobank, and Kids Helping Kids, and the Granite Bay Boys Team to help with everything from moving tables to organizing water balloon obstacle course. Chicago Fire Pizza in Sacramento provided us with an abundance of delicious pizza, E2 church provided root beer floats, Funderland supplied the cotton candy, and Sprouts graciously donated water, fruits and vegetables for the event. League of Heroes Inspired came out with some of their superheroes for the event as well. Phil of DezVision Photography captured all of the fun.

It takes many hands and donations to make this big of an event such a success and to put so many smiles on so many faces.

Thank you to everyone!

Meet Keaton Kiddo ~ Anabelle

Life was going accordingly for the Nguyen family as 3 year old Anabelle was taking ballet lessons, enjoying time with her younger sister, Allyson, while her parents were preparing for their third child on the way. She was looking forward to starting preschool that year. In fact, it was when Anabelle’s parents, Kieu and Liem, were registering Anabelle to start preschool in the fall when they learned they needed an up to date physical. The physical revealed an abnormal hemoglobin number, and so her pediatrician wanted to follow up with some blood work. Anabelle’s white blood cell counts came back high; therefore, Anabelle was referred to an oncologist. On March 22nd, 2017 Anabelle’s parents were shared the devastating news that Anabelle had B-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.

The family’s entire world completely turned upside down as they all of a sudden had to become familiar with all of the medical terminology and protocols while accepting the fact that this would be their life for the next few years.

Welcome KCCA's Summer Interns

Welcome KCCA Summer Interns

Our summer Interns, Jasmine and Angelina, are here and are already making an impact by connecting with families.  Hosting interns is such a valued part of Keaton’s Child Cancer Alliance.  They bring an array of knowledge, energy and enthusiasm to the team.  As the number of local families with a child battling cancer continues to rise, having interns provides the opportunity to connect more with families.  Please welcome them to the team!

Leare more about them HERE.

It’s Summer time!!!

As kids, we counted down the days, hours, minutes and then the seconds for school to end and summer to begin. New adventures with friends and family, late nights and sleeping in were awaiting. Great new memories! Oh, to be a kid again!!

For our “Kiddo’s”, it is often expressed that childhood cancer steals their childhood; takes away the time to enjoy new adventures and create new friends. Not if Keaton’s Child Cancer Alliance and friends can help it.

Being summer, KCCA is honored to highlight one such friend, Funderland Amusement Park.

For more than 5 years Funderland Amusement Park owners, John & Ashley Edds, have warmly welcomed our families in each summer to allow our Kiddo’s to have fun being a child. When doors normally close to the public, Funderland re-opens them at no cost one summer night each year for our families. This year more than 300 of our Kiddo’s and their families were able to build beautiful memories together, meet and make new friends (both kiddo’s and parents), ride the rides and simply have fun! There is no better therapy!!

If you have not been or it’s been awhile, please go and enjoy this wonderful Sacramento treasure, Funderland Amusement Park.

On behalf of all of us at KCCA and, most importantly, our families, thank you for being such a dear friend.
