Thanksgiving has come and gone, Christmas decor is going up, and the holiday shopping frenzy has commenced. Salt Lake is so beautiful during the holidays, with freshly fallen snow, lights, and a busy but happy vibe fills the air. Something much like the song Silver Bells describes, it is Christmas time in the city.

December is a month about family, friends, and spending time with those we love. Whether you are traveling far or staying in your own living room, I would like to wish you a safe and memorable holiday season.

Remembering the meaning of the holiday season - ways to give back.

Windermere is collecting winter boots and gloves for those in need during the holiday season. For every item donated, Windermere will make a matching contribution.

Decorating your kitchen and dining tablescape for the holidays.

Having family and friends to your home can be stressful, but it also is a great reason to deck your halls with the newest Christmas decor. This holiday season, we have seen more neutral tones and "naked" Christmas trees. Silver, Gold, and sparkle-accented neutral tones, all contribute to a more boho feel in decor.

Consider the new trends a blessing! A naked tree can mean more time spent shopping and less time decorating. While the traditional red and green will always be in style, consider more simple decor for your kitchen and tablescapes. (leaving more room to cook and eat).

Less really is more this year when it comes to decorating. Choose luxurious fabrics and faux fur throws that you can use year-round to accent furniture. Invest in pieces that will sparkle throughout the years!

Wassail and Waffles

The Salt Lake Film Society is a free holiday event starting at 10 AM on December 15th. Screenings will include ELF and the Polar Express. For more information, click here.

Santa's Christmas Eve Parade & Fireworks

On Christmas Eve, head up to Snowbird for bonfires, the parade, and a huge fireworks display. In the end, Santa rappels out of the tram! Click here for more information.

New Recipe

Here is a recipe from Healthy in a Hurry. It's so quick and easy to prepare.

Baked Chicken with Cherry Tomatoes, Herbs & Lemon

6 1/2 tsp Olive Oil
4 Chicken Breasts
8 oz. halved Cherry or Grape Tomatoes
1 1/2 tsp Balsamic Vinegar
1/2 tsp Sea Salt
Freshly Ground Pepper, to taste
1 Lemon cut into 8 thin slices
6-8 fresh Tarragon Sprigs
8-10 fresh Sage Leaves

1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Lightly grease baking dish with 2 tsps. olive oil.

2. Place chicken in prepared dish. Arrange tomatoes around chicken. Drizzle chicken and tomatoes with vinegar and 2 1/2 tsps. olive oil. Sprinkle with salt and pepper.

3. Top each chicken breast half with 2 lemon slices. Arrange tarragon springs and sage leaves over and around chicken. Drizzle remaining 2 tsp. olive oil over herbs.

4. Bake until chicken is opaque throughout. 20-28 minutes. Arrange chicken breasts on each of 4 plates, spooning equal amounts of tomatoes and herbs around each. Best served over rice or orzo.
