The new Grossmann calibres with the
Pure Classic finish

En route to the simple but mechanically perfect watch

Founded in 2008, the manufacture is dedicated to the aesthetics and functionality of precision instruments crafted in Glashütte in the 19th century. Moritz Grossmann's ideas remain inspiring to this very day. His essay "On the construction of a simple but mechanically perfected watch" still reflects the zeitgeist of our era.

Pure-Classic-Finish

The perfect finish of all components of a movement lets Grossmann's watchmakers demonstrate their artisanal skills. Grossmann premiered the Pure Classic finish with the manufacture calibres 201.0 in the ATUM Pure and 202.0 in the TEFNUT Pure. These versions in steel cases feature a cool, reduced look. The display back reveals the lucid aesthetics of the Pure Classic finish and its totally modern appeal. However, Moritz Grossmann's historic 19th-century pocket chronometers already pointed the way. In his time, Moritz Grossmann applied various surface finishes to his chronograph movements, thus changing their looks. All the while, in his quest for the "simple but mechanically perfect watch", his consistent focus was on technical advancements.

This tradition was revived by Grossmann in 2016. In contrast to the High Artistic finish, in which surfaces are decorated with various ornamentation techniques, the new Pure Classic finish showcases horological details in design and craftsmanship. It concentrates on function and on the aesthetic appeal of materials. The German silver plates are shot-peened with glass beads. From that point on, no corrections can be applied, and because all components must be assembled twice after having undergone finissage, the watchmakers have to leverage their virtuosity at the highest level. Accentuated with the typical white sapphires and steel-coloured movement screws, the result is a sublimely monochrome manifestation of pure watchmaking artistry.

Hodinkee Magazine: „The transition to more affordable metals requires sensible changes to some of the less obvious features of a watch, a rule that Moritz Grossmann followed brilliantly with the introduction of the Atum Pure Steel.“

The TEFNUT Pure

The TEFNUT model family is characterised by its particularly slender and flat case as well as by a face of understated beauty. In the steel version, Grossmann emphasises discreetly casual looks. The design of the TEFNUT Pure was coordinated with the case colour by introducing subtle changes. Like all Grossmann watches, manually sculpted hands are a must for the steel versions as well. They are made of modern stainless steel and polished to a mirror gloss to match the appliques. The calibre 202.0 movement is based on the calibre 102.0; it was specially conceived for this model family and presents a totally new, thin silhouette. Additionally, in the TEFNUT Pure, it stands out with the concentrated radiance of the Pure Classic finish.

The TEFNUT Pure comes with argenté and charcoal dials in stainless steel cases and a charcoal dial in a dianoir stainless steel case; each version is crafted in a limited edition of 150 watches.

Big exposure for the TEFNUT Pure

Global Female Leaders Summit 2016

From 17 to 19 April, some 300 female executives from all over the world convened for the third Global Female Leaders Summit at the Ritz-Carlton in Berlin. More than 50 presentations by top-tier speakers under the motto "How to master the 6 challenges of change" were enthusiastically received at this year's forum. Grossmann accompanied the event as a sponsor and, as the Official Timekeeper, displayed the time with a projection of the new TEFNUT Pure. During the breaks, the attendees had the opportunity to discover the Grossmann manufacture's watch collection and pick a souvenir photo of their favourite model.

Koblenz Premium Show with CWM Carl Willy Müller

Within the scope of the Koblenz Premium Show on 16 and 17 April, Grossmann dealer CWM Carl Willy Müller presented its diamond bank and goldsmithing atelier as well as Grossmann's pure watchmaking artistry. In particular, the Baselworld 2016 debuts were exhibited here and shown to the general public for the first time. Watchmaker Tom Vietze travelled from Glashütte to Koblenz explicitly to give visitors a detailed impression of the "making of" processes pursued by the Grossmann manufacture.

6th Singapur Yacht Show

The ONE°15 Marina Club on Sentosa Island is one of the most famous hotspots in Singapore. Once again, the prestigious location was the venue for the Singapore Yacht Show from 7 to 10 April. Highlighted by glamorous events and blessed with excellent weather, international shipyards showcased their artisanal talents. The upscale presentation with over 60 super yachts was accompanied by Grossmann as an official show partner.
