Social Value Portal (SVP) has developed a Central Government Social Value Model TOMs Mapping Tool. The Tool and associated guidance are out for consultation from: 2nd August to 3rd October 2021. SVUK are submitting a response to the consultation feeding back our thoughts on the TOMs Mapping Tool, and the use of this in measuring and managing social value. We are inviting our members to participate in this response by completing this feedback form. More info over on our blog!
- The Draft Standards and short guidance for applying Social Value Principles 5 and 8 are now out for consultation and you have until September 7th to respond. Find out more here.
SVUK is a joint Member Network of Social Value International. This means that all our members are automatically members of SVI too and thus have access to all their member benefits also! We are therefore thrilled to see that SVI have launched a brand-new, much-improved members area that will completely transform the way the social value community connects with one another on a global scale! The new SVI Members Area is designed to facilitate peer-to-peer learning and support, provide improved networking opportunities and enhance our ability to engage and
communicate with one another at an international level. It includes a range of exciting new features, including a Live Feed, discussion forums, an interactive Member Directory, improved resources, sub-groups, and much more!
Assurance: Our next assurance round will have a focus on Level 2 Accredited Practitioner & Level 3 Advanced Practitioner applications. Make sure to get your applications in before the deadline on September 17th!

- New Supplementary Green Book Wellbeing guidance was launched in late July. The guidance outlines how and where wellbeing should be considered in the relevant parts of the Green book methodology, and how wellbeing evidence can be used in influencing policy. This is a really exciting step forwards for wellbeing measurement and it's inclusion in decision making!
- Our friends at whatimpact have developed a short questionnaire in order to understand how changes in collaborations with companies are affecting social impact organisations. Are you a social enterprise/charity in England, Wales and Scotland? Simply tell them about the challenges you’re facing via this link to be in with a chance of winning a £100 gift card!
Moore Kingston Smith have partnered with The Dunhill Medical Trust to create a grant -that ensures capability funding for community organisations (specifically for community organisations working with older people). This is an excellent opportunity for charities who need expert advice and services to help develop their organisation but perhaps don’t have the resource to pay for it. Apply here before Sept

- SVUK Members Coffee Morning Tuesday 24th August @ 10.30am. We are pleased to invite Public Sector SVUK members to our sectors-specific Members' Coffee Morning on August 24th . It will be an informal kick back hour to give members an opportunity to meet each other & network!
- Social Value Strategic Workshop Wednesday 25th August @ 9:00am - 11.30am. For organisational members that have not previously attended the strategic workshop, we are now offering this as a monthly workshop to learn with fellow members about social value and its implementation in your organisation.
- Assurance Coffee Morning Thursday 31st August @ 11:30am - 12:30pm. An informal hour for drop in questions regarding our assurance and accreditation services. This time there will be a focus on the Social Value Management Certificate, Level 2 Accredited Practitioner & Level 3 Advanced Practitioner applications.
- Civil Society Peer Learning & Networking Groups - The aim of these groups is to enable members to meet and discuss any challenges or opportunities they are faced with and use peer support to help navigate the world we’re all living in! Join at the level you feel you are at in your Social Value Journey! These groups will be administered by Nicola Lynch - our Civil Society Lead – but the content and format will be down to members to shape going forward.
- Inspiring Impact - Introduction to Theories of Change Thursday 9th September @ 10:30am - 11:30am. A one hour webinar offering attendees a light touch introduction to different models of 'Theories of Change' and their different uses. This workshop is aimed at small charities and social enterprises and is for people who don't have much previous experience of using Theory of Change models. There will be some presentation and lots of opportunities to ask questions!
- A new ethos: how can values-led procurement reform public service delivery? Thursday 9th September @ 11:00am - 12:00pm What opportunities lie hidden within the procurement reform programme to renew a culture of trust and sense of dutiful service in the delivery of public services? This is a question we will investigate with a stellar line up of experts on the 9th of September.
- Social Value tools & resources, the good, the bad & the ugly (Civil Society) Wednesday 15th September @ 2:00pm - 3:00pm An online webinar presenting and discussing the range of tools and resources that are available to support you in your quest to understand and analyse your social value. This session is aimed at civil society organisations. It will be a mix of presentation and discussion. The SVUK network is based in peer learning so (as always!) we welcome members bringing their ideas and experiences to the discussion.

- Inspiring Impact - Intro to Social Value South West of England Thursday 16th September @ 10:00am - 11:30am A free, one-hour online webinar offering attendees from the South West of England a very light touch introduction to the language and concepts of Social Value. Followed by an optional half hour Q&A and a discussion facilitated by Clarity CIC about future learning needs in the South West of England.
- Levelling Up procurement: using spend to transform local economic outcomes Thursday 16th September @ 11:00am - 12:00pm SVUK CEO, Isabelle Parasram, will be joining a top panel of experts to discuss how procurement reform can focus on economic growth for local areas & businesses! Not one to miss!
- A New Dawn in Wellbeing Valuation Friday 24th September @ 10:00am - 11:30am The event will showcase the WELLBY measure, recently introduced in Professor Paul Frijters's book and highlight the importance of its inclusion in the new Supplementary Wellbeing Guidance of the HMT Treasury Green Book.
- SVI Social Value Matters 2021 Wednesday 20th - Thursday 21st October. This conference is shaped by the global community of SVI members & networks. it will provide a combination of world-class thought-leadership content and highly interactive workshops that create the standards and practice that can help to create a more sustainable, equitable and positive future.
