If You Can Write, You Can Do Anything...

Words of Affirmation

Words of Affirmation

By Sophia One

In a digital age where it is easy to harass people online and hide away, negativity in the cyber sphere has been at an all time high. To restore the lost empathy, letter writing can be a great exercise to improve upon yourself. It is a reflective practice that pushes us to consider the recipient’s background and perspective.

SPEAKING IN FIRST DRAFT PODCAST

Speaking on Writing on Resistance Pt. 1

Featuring Ayah Al-Masyabi & Allison Su

In these tumultuous times, we often turn to art as a guide to true north. Girls Write Now's Kathryn Destin moderates a conversation with mentees Ayah Al-Masyabi and Allison Su. In this first episode of our three-part series on writing as activism, you’ll hear a beautiful conversation about writing as resistance, surviving the overwhelming news cycle, and staying steadfast in your activism. You'll leave the episode with a longer TBR list and action items to begin your own forms of resistance.

FROM OUR COMMUNITY

Prompt of the Week

By Asma Al-Masyabi and Nyilah Thomas,
Community Studio Facilitators

Think about a time when your rage led to personal growth or change. How did this transformation unfold?

Join peer-to-peer mentees Asma Al-Masyabi and Nyilah Thomas at their Community Studio, "Spoken Word: Voices Unleashed!" In honor of National Poetry Month, they'll be delving into the art of poets writing poems about being poets! In this studio, you'll untangle what it means to be a poet, and take a go at penning some poetry of your own.
