May is National Physical Fitness
& Sports MonthMay is nationally recognized as National Physical Fitness and Sports Month, and it is the perfect time to get outside and be active. During May, make time each day to be physically active. Whether it is a short walk after a meal, going for a dip in a local lake, or taking advantage of other outdoor resources the area has to offer, all can be beneficial for your health. Take a look at some of the reasons physical fitness is beneficial. · Improves muscular fitness
· Improves bone health
· Improves heart health
· Lowers the risk of heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and some types of cancer
· Lowers the risk of falls
· Improves cognitive functioning For more information on National Physical Fitness and Sports Month, click here. Reference: U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (2019). Retrieved from https://healthfinder.gov/NHO/MayToolkit.aspx
Pardon Our DustStarting May 10th, Campus Recreation and Wellness is replacing all the tile in the entryway. As a patron, there are a few key things to pay attention to that will greatly assist us during this project. 1. Hours of Operation - Please check these closely as 1 or more days are impacted by the project. 2. Please pay attention to the designated walking/entry paths. Each day, you may be asked to enter different doors and remain on designated pathways depending where the work is occurring. 3. The work will occur after hours when the building is not open. However, the space will not look put together each day. Therefore, pardon our dust! Let us know if you have questions and thank you for your patience!

McKayla Kennedy is from Kings Mountain, NC. She is a junior majoring in Criminal Justice and Philosophy. At the beginning of the semester McKayla changed her routine for the better by implementing a fitness plan. A typical day starts with a little cardio and ends with participating in a Group Exercise class. Her favorites are Yoga and Zumba. She found that having consistent exercise is an amazing way to practice self-care. McKayla would also like to acknowledge her awesome and dedicated gym buddy, Mollie Bishop. Congratulations on being selected as the Participant of the Month. We enjoy seeing you regularly!
Originally from Rural Hill, North Carolina, Miranda Holman is a senior majoring in Biology. She would like to convey to her fellow co-works to always have patience and understanding, not only of one another but to anyone they come across in life. Miranda enjoys working with Campus Recreation and Wellness because of the friendships you form with those you work with. She is very thankful and loves everyone who works there. Her hobbies include painting, horror movies, and spending time with family. Thank you, Miranda, for working so hard, and congratulations on being chosen Employee of the Month!
