Laura Gascoigne, The Tablet Visit this critically acclaimed exhibition and explore the life and work of this pioneering artist. EXHIBITION "I only use Sharpies. In the 15 years that I have explored this simple marker I have yet to see the same stroke repeated twice - I have achieved watercolour-like washes by violently destroying the Sharpie and used the innards like a delicate brush." Aleksandra Mir With her experimental approach to the common marker pen, Mir's work expands the rigid binary of monochrome drawings. EXHIBITION In our final Platform 2017 exhibition, Oxford Brookes graduate Freddie Davies presents a series of reflective painted nocturnes which explore the night as a period of isolation. On Saturday 9 September at 2pm, Freddie will be discussing his work in the Project Space with author James Attlee. TALK As part of Rose Finn-Kelcey’s Life, Belief and Beyond, curator and writer Lisa Le Feuvre discusses the artist’s work in relation to systems of belief, both political and spiritual.
