May 2018 No Images? Click here ![]() In preparation for American Burying Beetle (ABB) season, a group of GUY employees met on a sunny Saturday morning to build ABB traps. We appreciate their dedication to serving clients! ![]() What is an American Burying Beetle? According to the US Fish and Wildlife Service, ABBs are the largest of the carrion beetles, a group of beetles that buries and eats dead animals. They once lived in 35 states plus parts of Canada, but were added to the federal Endangered Species List in 1989 as their numbers dropped. If a project is slated for construction in potential ABB habitat, a presence/absence survey is required to determine any effects on the species. Unsure if your project is affected? GUY can assess your project’s potential impact on ABBs and offer a variety of mitigation options. ![]() Congratulations to Krystal Harris of Terracon and Michael Teicheira of Xplo Safe for coming the closest to guessing how many bricks were in our Lego-style Golden Gate Bridge at the APWA conference in May. More chances coming up later in the year! ![]() ![]() |
