Welcome to the February Newsletter. In this newsletter we focus on the projects that feature in the Best Use of Timber Awards exhibition now open on Level 2 at The Lighthouse Glasgow. LAUDF 14 Newsletter: Market-led housing

The latest meeting of the Local Authority Urban Design Forum took place in January and looked at market-led housing. Market-led housing covers perhaps the predominant area of design in public life: homes and neighbourhoods. The forum was attended by over 52 professionals representing 22 different local authorities and public bodies, and covered key issues around market-led housing. Case studies and policies addressing smarter green space, green infrastructure, design codes and range of issues were covered in the sessions.

Best Use of Timber Awards Exhibition - Now Open

The exhibition showcasing projects from the annual Best Use of Timber Awards is now running at The Lighthouse.

 

The awards recognise innovative and creative use of timber in buildings in Scotland. Part of the annual RIAS Awards scheme, the award is sponsored by Scottish Forestry and Wood for Good.

 

The award demonstrates the potential of home-grown timber, as well as showing how different species of timber can create a range of inspiring spaces. 

The projects range from small to large and from domestic to commercial – all showcasing the benefit of timber in new architecture in Scotland.

 

The exhibition will be open until 6 April.
