New Grant Program to Support Restaurants via Bulk Purchases

The Sustain and Serve NJ program is a $2 million grant program that will provide funding to organizations which will be used to purchase meals, in bulk, from restaurants that have been negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, which will be distributed at no cost to New Jersey residents. Under the Sustain and Serve NJ program, eligible organizations can receive grants of at least $100,000 to support prospective costs associated with the bulk purchasing of meals from New Jersey-based restaurants. The program will be open to any eligible entity, including 501(c) non-profit organizations, that are legally registered to do business in New Jersey and are in good standing with the Department of Labor and the New Jersey Division of Taxation. NJ Offers Free Support for Retailers Shifting to Online Sales

The NJBAC in partnership with New Jersey’s Small Business Development Centers will offer free tools and resources to help retail businesses capitalize on the holiday season amid COVID-19. The services are designed to help small businesses that typically rely on in-person transactions shift to e-commerce. Resources include personalized consulting, website setup, social media promotion, Google My Business support and SEO strategies. Businesses can also receive counsel on managing inventories, product descriptions and pricing strategies to maximize online sales and profits. Download New COVID Exposure App for NJ

You and your employees can help protect each other by downloading COVID Alert NJ, New Jersey’s free and secure exposure notification mobile app. Once downloaded, the app anonymously alerts users if they have been in close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19. The app also provides users with up-to-date information on New Jersey reopening news, key COVID-19 metrics, and a user-friendly symptom tracking tool. COVID Alert NJ uses Bluetooth proximity technology. The app will never record any identifying data so all users will remain anonymous.

NJ Small and Micro Business PPE Access Program Extended

The New Jersey Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Access Program is a public-private partnership that helps businesses and non-profits protect the health and safety of their employees and customers.​ Through the program, all NJ-based businesses and non-profits are eligible for 10% discounts on PPE purchases made through approved online retailers, including Boxed, Staples, and Office Depot. Visit ppe.covid19.nj.gov to get started. Small businesses and nonprofits currently have until Thursday, December 17, 2020 through a recent program extension.

Free Webinar: Grow Your Business in Global Markets

The NJBAC will host a free webinar titled “Grow Your Business in Global Markets” on Wednesday, Jan. 13 at 11 a.m. ET. The webcast will provide New Jersey businesses with information on available free tools and resources through the New Jersey Office of Export Promotion. Topics to be covered include everything from exporting preparation to expanding existing international markets. Participants will also learn about the New Jersey State Trade Expansion Program (NJ STEP), which is funded in part through a grant from the U.S. Small Business Administration, and how it can help pay for New Jersey companies to attend virtual trade shows and exhibits.

Holiday Guidelines from the Department of Health

In preparation for the holidays, the New Jersey Department of Health has issued new guidelines for gatherings and celebrations, such as parades, carolling and holiday-related travel. The recommendations have been developed to help individuals safely and responsibly celebrate the holiday season during the COVID-19 public health emergency.
