This multidisciplinary committee identifies and discusses issues involving medical ethics, educates its members and the hospital community on issues relating to medical ethics, and convenes consultations to assist in the resolution of clinical ethical dilemmas. Publications Sri Shamasunder published, "Racism and the Off-Duty Doctor." This essay is based on Sri's experience as a resident at Harbor-UCLA, LA County Hospital and his experience working with HEAL. "In the American health system we know that inequity kills and racism kills, so as health professionals we need to push ourselves to walk alongside our patients a little more, and realize the invisibility and vulnerability they face daily. In that way we might transform ourselves and our health system." Sachin Shah and colleagues examined the use of virtual visits in an ACO to substitute for in-person visits. They showed some virtual visits replaced in-person visits, but most added to in-person care.
