LAKESIDE NEWS FROM THE SPIRESA NOTE FROM OUR TEAMGreetings from The Spires team! If the reality that we are nearly pushing into June has your head spinning, then join the team. I remember my grandparents telling me that the older they got, the quicker time passes and now that I have grandchildren of my own, I share those same words and sentiment. ![]() As fast as life moves, our office took a few hours recently to slow down and really take stock of who we are, what drives us and how we function as a team. I wish all of you could have been a fly on the wall as our office participated in the BOLD challenge and team building course at Berry College. We thought it would be fun to have the opportunity to interact outside of the office in a way that would allow us to get to know one another, both personally and professionally, on a deeper level. Although the last challenge of the day (a huge swing requiring a giant jump off a tall platform) had my heart pounding, my head spinning and my belly feeling pretty nauseous, I can tell you that the experience was so worth the fear. Isn't that so often true in life though? The big leaps in life, the jumping into something new or unknown, is so worth the fear we wrestle with to get to the other side. What our team learned that day supported what we really already knew, that we have each other’s back; we are one and we are committed to giving each other and you our very best. We are so blessed to be a part of your journey and spend every day anxiously waiting for our community to be built so that we can see you on that other side- thankful that you took the jump with us into something new and wonderful! Sincerely, Monika Lawrence, We hope you enjoyed watching this footage from May 31st as much as we did! It's amazing how it's all coming together and what progress is being made. Please remember that this is now an active construction site and, for safety reasons, we've been asked to refrain from visiting the area. We will continue to post drone footage on a regular basis to keep you informed and up to date. PROJECT STATUS REPORT:
FUN QUARRY FACTS: Lake Eagle was originally a limestone quarry run by the Ledbetter Brothers group since the mid 1950s until 1975 when Florida Rock Industries purchased and took over a 25-year lease with Berry. The lake is approximately 350 deep and holds roughly 6 billion gallons of water that now also helps to stabilize the ground water table for the Berry College campus. ![]() Photo by Charley Stephens. I’m Cris Gillespie, the Regional Director of Operations of Greenbrier Senior Living and I will be leading the effort to hire the Executive team for the Spires. I will continue to monitor and support the team once the community is open and active. I’m a proud graduate of The Ohio State University and am serving my 39th year in senior living. Dede and I have three sons and two grandchildren. I look forward to meeting you soon! ![]()
A hot topic for several depositors- okay maybe more than several- is “security” once the Spires is open. We have recently decided to install gates at the entrance to the community. These unmanned gates will be similar to the gates at the entrance to the College. No one will be able to enter our premises after hours without using a Spires issued fob or without communicating with our Concierge Desk through a device at the gate. Additionally, there will be a person at the Concierge Desk from 8:00 AM to 11:00 PM and for much of the night shift. The person covering the night shift will also be walking the buildings to ensure outside doors are not compromised. It is our hope that this news will be well received and bring you additional peace of mind. Sincerely, Cris Gillespie BENEFITS OF SECURING A HOME NOW
