Farhan Lalani, Stephanie Conner, and Priyanka Agarwal received the Division of Hospital Medicine Internal Grants. Rosemary Yau received the WINGS Grant for the February 2018 cycle. The WINGS program provides tuition assistance for professional and career development courses. Publications Liz Dzeng and her team published an article in the Journal of Pain and Symptom Management exploring the influence of social norms and systemic defaults in the provision of overly aggressive care at the end of life. Adeena Khan, Brad Monash, and Stephanie Rennke published the results of an observational study of shared decision making during rounds on the pediatric and adult hospital medicine services at UCSF and Stanford in the Journal of Hospital Medicine. Liz Dzeng and colleagues on the Society of General Internal Medicine Ethics Committee published an article in the Journal of General Internal Medicine discussing ethical issues in the design and implementation of population health programs. The DATA Trial Group (Saj Patel, Alvin Rajkomar, James Harrison, Priya Prasad, Victoria Valencia, Sumant Ranji, and Michelle Mourad) showed that intensive audit and feedback improved performance on inpatient discharge metrics.
