Girls Write Now 2023-2024 Collaboratory Mentees are invited to submit one piece of writing to Here & Now: The Girls Write Now 2024 Anthology, published by Dutton! Throughout our history, mentees have had the opportunity to share their voices in this popular annual book. Now, mentors and mentees, you can be connected to our long tradition of collaborative storytelling by young women and gender expansive young adults. 

Submit through the Girls Write Now Portal no later than February 22.

Prompt of the Week

Write three short paragraphs. Base the first on "fear," the second on "anger," and the last on "pleasure" without using these words. Try to render these emotions by describing physical sensations or images. Try to make your language precise and fresh.

In celebration of our newest publication, Girls Write Now On the Art of the Craft: A Guidebook to Collaborative Storytelling, we're featuring conversations from the book on mentorship, Girls Write Now history, and the power of storytelling to traverse generations. In this excerpt, mentee contributor Rachel Young interviews long-time mentor Andrea Juncos about Mona Hadad's piece, "Noriko's Postcards." Mona passed away in 2016, yet her spirit lives on through the impact she had on our community.

Guest Kibin Alleyne, Reporter & Host of BronxNet CommunityTV, will talk about self-created barriers to success and how to overcome them. We'll craft individual stories to encourage greater support for Girls Write Now, and collectively share how we overcame big hurdles.
