There was an array of events available for pupils to participate in including athletics track and field competitions such as long jump, shot putt, and relay races. There was a delicious lunch laid on and pupils gathered on the new school benches to eat al fresco, chatting and laughing with friends. It was as if the last twelve months had never happened. It wonderful to see their smiling, HSD Art Exhibition![]() This year pupils Aimée Merriman, Annie Sun, Juno Claffey Hegarty, John Luka Doherty, Alannah Childs, and Daisy Tuomey all undertook the challenge of making a portfolio to gain entry to Art college. They had numerous challenges adapting to a digital submission process and remote learning. Ultimately, each portfolio speaks of hours of research, making and creating artwork of great ingenuity and authenticity. The Art Department is proud to present their exceptional work on this platform to celebrate their efforts and great achievements. You can view their work at this link to the virtual exhibition. Forms 2 and 3 Outdoor PursuitsForms 2 and 3 enjoyed a day participating in a series of adventure activities as part of their Physical Education curriculum at Russborough House in Blessington. Pupils engaged in several land and water based challenges including archery, canoeing, climbing and abseiling, zip lining, low ropes obstacle course, and bush craft skills. The day was designed to provide opportunities for integration, socialisation, and co-operative involvement for all in Form 2 after what has been a challenging year. The opportunity to engage in alternative Physical Education activities was welcomed by all with pupils returning to school feeling refreshed and revived. It was a great success for Forms 2 and 3. HSD Past Pupil Success![]() Last weekend Orla Prendergast (HSD, 2014-20) captained the Typhoons to victory over the Scorchers in the Super 50 cup while also hitting 116 runs off 129 balls making her only the fourth player in the history of the Super Series to register a century. The Super 50 Cup competition now stands as 2-1 to the Scorchers with three rounds to play. Congratulations to Orla who was named Player of the Match following this impressive performance. Form 5 English![]() On Thursday the 22 April our English class watched an historical play about the Magdalene laundries called Eclipsed by Patricia Burke Brogan. It was produced by The Mill Theatre and streamed into the Demonstration Theatre. The play gave us a small glimpse into what life was like in the times of the laundries. I enjoyed the play very much and would recommend it. It was a good learning tool and helped us to see the lives that women lived in the past. Form 4 Geography![]() As part of our Geography module with Ms Gray we were asked to cook or buy Indian cuisine. Many of my classmates brought snacks from specialist shops such as bhaajis and spiced shortbreads. Some made drinks - the most popular was lassi. You can make many flavours of this drink: mango, strawberry, and banana. We had a great time tasting the different flavours. Dates for your Diary
