Sara Champlain Pendleton ’15, MA ’17, is APU’s nominee for the CCCU 2022 Young Alumni Award!

We're proud to nominate Sara, a double APU alumna, for the Council for Christian Colleges & Universities Young Alumni Award, and look forward to the continuing impact she's making on those around her. She earned her B.A. in English at APU with an emphasis in writing in 2015 and an M.A. in English in 2017. Read more about Sara’s APU journey.

Virtual Cougar Fest 2021

Alumni Engagement invites all alumni, family, and friends to join the virtual Cougar Fest festivities October 18-22, 2021. Cougar Fest virtual events include a 5K, pumpkin decorating class, Alumni Academy’s enriching learning opportunities, and worship.

 

Homecoming: Alumni and Family Weekend 2022

Alumni Engagement will host Homecoming: Alumni and Family Weekend February 11-12, 2022. Alumni, students, parents, family, and friends are all welcome. Save these dates and plan to join your fellow Cougars. More details to come!

Clayton J. Schletewitz ’55, PhD

We are sad to announce the passing of one of our alumni, Clayton J. Schletewitz ’55, PhD. After receiving a calling from God, he left Fresno State University and attended Pacific Bible College in Azusa where he received his B.A. with classmates Cliff Hamlow ’56 and Don Grant ’54. Read his obituary.

 

Lynne Herring ’85

Lynne received her Master of Science in Mass Media and Journalism from Clarion University, Pennsylvania in May 2019. She was named Outstanding Student of the Department with a 4.0 grade-point average.

 

Kristen Fry ’89

During lockdown in Uganda, Kristen helped rescue 141 street children and provided shelter, counseling, food, and fun for them. Most of them will be reunited with their families and return to school or vocational training. "It's been sad and hard during this time, but the Father's love and provision are so evident.”

 

Rosemary Smallwood ’92

Rosemary is a high school math teacher at United Christian Academy in Rancho Cucamonga, California.

 

Jesse Cougle ’97, MSc, PhD

Jesse was recently promoted to professor of psychology at Florida State University. He was also appointed editor-in-chief of the Journal of Obsessive-Compulsive and Related Disorders.

 

Patricia Allaf ’07, MA

Patricia has been a middle school teacher in the Alhambra Unified School District (AUSD) for the past eight years, as well as Student Council advisor. She is proud to say that because of her academics and credentialing programs at APU, she has been a happy and successful teacher. She was also awarded AUSD’s Teacher of the Year last year, and made it to the top 25 of L.A. County Teachers of the Year. Congratulations, Patricia!

 

Shawna Lafreniere, PhD ’09

Announcing the marriage between APU alumna Shawna L. Lafreniere, PhD ’09, associate professor of leadership and organizational psychology at APU and William Nist on July 24, 2021. Congratulations, Shawna and William!

 

Camille Endacot ’15

Camille began a faculty position as an assistant professor of communication and organizational science at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in August 2021.

 

AJ Zimmermann, MA ’15

AJ now works as the director of the Rock School of Ministry in San Diego, California.

 

Britt Connell, MA ’18

Britt is the new assistant women’s water polo coach at Brown University, relocating to Providence, Rhode Island earlier this summer. She feels blessed with this opportunity and looks forward to giving it her all.

 

Allivia (Noel-Dodd ’19) Buller

Allivia is currently a program coordinator at Mount Hermon Association and a weekend experience coordinator at Twin Lakes Church. She married Casey Buller on April 10, 2021. Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Buller!

 

Benjamin Hull ’19 and Nicole Ramirez ’19
