Welcome to our May edition of UPdate providing you with Trial UPdates as well as the latest news and events. In terms of our ANZUP trials – PCR-MIB study is very close to reaching its target milestone with 27 of 30 patients recruited. Our BCG+MM study welcomed their first international site, Nottingham University Hospital, onto the trial. We were also delighted to see DASL-HiCaP randomise their first patient in Canada during the month, and are looking forward to the study opening up in USA, Ireland and the UK in the near future. A huge thank you once again to all the PI’s and trials teams for your ongoing efforts and to
all the patients who take part in our trials. Ian Davis also provides an ANZUP and SAC UPdate – as always an informative and entertaining read. In other news - The Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) approved enzalutamide for use with metastatic hormone-sensitive prostate cancer ( mHSPC). This decision was supported by the ANZUP-led ENZAMET trial. Our TheraP trial also featured in The ASCO Post Genitourinary Oncology Highlights 2020–2021 Almanac - a great achievement. During April two successful virtual Concept Development Workshops were held: BUP and Germ Cell. We have two more CDWs coming up: Prostate on 14 May followed by Renal Cell on 25 June. If you have any concepts you wish to present please ensure you send through your concept/s prior to the meeting. You can

"The #MoveYourWay challenge is a great way to show your support for people affected by “below the belt” genitourinary cancers, all while getting fit and having fun. Our first challenge in 2020 made a great difference for these people, and we want to build on that even more.”

The ANZUP Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) met by videoconference on 31 March 2021. The SAC’s agenda has evolved over the years, in response to a realisation that we were spending too much time reviewing the “shopping list” of activity, and not enough time thinking about strategy and scientific direction, the main reasons for having the SAC at all. Do you work with men living with prostate cancer?
ANZUP has endorsed a study investigating how prostate cancer treatments may be impacting men's lives and their families. Lorna Huang, PhD Candidate at Macquarie University, is examining the problems experienced by prostate cancer patients undergoing hormone therapy (e.g., cognitive problems, mental health, etc.). To compare people's experiences, we hope to recruit men: - undergoing hormone therapy treatments for prostate cancer
- not undergoing hormone therapy treatments for prostate cancer
- without prostate cancer
In doing this research, we endeavour to provide insights into ways we can support men with prostate cancer. You can direct men to this link: https://tinyurl.com/prostatecognition and here's a flyer you can print and display. Or for more information about the study, contact MRFF Grants 2021 are open
Grants have opened for the first of the MRFF 2021 International Clinical Trial Collaborations Grant rounds. You can find out more information online here.
