Parking and Transportation News

Coming soon!!! We are very excited to announce the installation of a new traffic light and pedestrian crossing signal located at the intersection of Central Drive and University Way (on the corner where the Cordelia Camp Building, HFR, and the Bardo Arts Center meet). The light is being provided by the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NC DOT) and will be installed this spring. Parking Enforcement will be monitoring the intersection beginning at 5:00pm daily until the light is installed, to help ensure the smooth flow of traffic at that peak traffic hour.

The Office of Parking and Transportation is also working with an outside contractor to assist in determining the best placement for a campus parking deck. Currently they have completed a lot occupancy count and are in the process of completing intersection tests to identify the busiest parts of campus.

Employee Wellness

Western Carolina University supports employee health and wellbeing through the efforts of the Employee Wellness Committee, ‘WHEE for Life’. The committee works to help employees access the knowledge and tools necessary to make good decisions and choices about their health and wellness. Specifically, WHEE for Life promotes opportunities related to healthy nutrition, physical activity, stress management, and tobacco cessation, as well as sharing resources that enhance our ability to be wise consumers of health care resources. WHEE for Life encourages you to become familiar with the resources available to you as a NC state employee and to take advantage of the wellness opportunities available to you here in Cullowhee and our surrounding communities.
