This week write with top literary agents, Forbes professionals, and one of the world's top poker players! AUGUST 4: QUERY LETTER WRITING 2-PART WORKSHOP Learn how to write a five-star query letter and receive expert feedback from some of the top literary agents in publishing at this two-part event! During the first session (3:30-4:30PM), you'll learn how to write an effective query letter for your book with guidance from a top literary agent. This session is open to all registrants. During the second part (4:30-6PM), authors will get feedback on their query letter from top literary agents. The second session has limited space and prioritizes mentee and mentee alum registrants. All other registrants will be placed on a waiting list and notified whether or not there is capacity. AUGUST 5: LETTERS WITH YOUNG WRITERS Forbes and Girls Write Now meet for an intergenerational exchange through the act of letter writing. Young writers, “Mentees For The Day”, and Forbes employees, “Mentors For The Day”, will be led by a Girls Write Now facilitator through a series of prompts to help each other through this unusual and anxiety-producing time. Mentees have a unique opportunity to share their experiences, write alongside media professionals, and learn how Forbes employees are adapting to the unexpected. Mentors learn about the concerns of diverse NYC youth during the time of COVID-19 and a growing movement for racial justice. AUGUST 6: GOING ALL IN, A MEMOIR WRITING SALON Maria Konnikova is the author of Mastermind and The Confidence Game. She is a regular contributing writer for The New Yorker, and has written for The Atlantic, The New York Times, Slate, The New Republic, The Paris Review, The Wall Street Journal, Salon, The Boston Globe, Scientific American, Wired, and Smithsonian, among many other publications.
