Linking your Twitter and Facebook accounts is a horrible idea
Any reasonable professional aims to be more time-efficient. After all, there is a constant assortment of duties a real estate agent has to fulfill in their busy schedule. Linking your Twitter and Facebook business pages seems like a great idea then. Why post twice if you can do it all at once, right? Think again!
The goal of being on social media is to engage with your community. It is about being a part of the discussion, making valuable connections with your network, and demonstrating your expertise and trustworthiness. It is not about broadcasting your message, self-promoting with a lazy duplicated message across multiple platforms just to save time.
If you link the accounts, you may be getting the message out to more people. But, it will be an ineffective message. If you are ignoring the networking part of these sites, you are doing yourself and your business a big disservice. Nothing turns away potential clients more than tweeting a question to an agent and never getting a response back- because the agent is not actually checking the network.
Each social media platform has a unique culture and each person has their own unique interpretation on that culture. You should make strategic decisions based on a deep understanding of the best practices on a certain platform instead of what saves you the most time.
