Tender open: Refugee, People Seeking Asylum and CALD Community Suicide Prevention Capacity Building Initiative
South Eastern Melbourne Primary Health Network (SEMPHN) is pleased to invite eligible organisations to tender for the establishment and delivery of a refugee, people seeking asylum and culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) community Suicide Prevention Capacity Building Initiative (the Initiative) within the Southern Melbourne Area.
The Initiative requires a provider to: - Design and implement a local, community-based approach to suicide prevention, including mental health and wellbeing.
The Initiative will work with, and for, CALD communities, refugees and people seeking asylum, and include consideration of the service system, community, and sustainability.
- Progress activities that have been established through the Place-based Suicide Prevention Trial (including capacity building, coordination, and engagement).
The successful provider will be contracted from 15 January 2021, with activities from 1 February 2021 through to 30 June 2022. The initiative and associated activities will be delivered in the Greater Dandenong, Casey and the Cardinia Local Government Areas. Applying for this tender To be considered for this tender, applicants must: - Maintain appropriate and current public liability ($20m), professional indemnity ($10m) and WorkCover insurances and provide relevant certificates of currency
- Have an ABN and be registered for GST
- Provide a Certificate of Registration of a company whether under the Corporations Act (2001) Cth or the Corporations (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander) Act (2006). This can be downloaded from the ASIC website: www.asic.gov.au.
- Provide copies of the last two years annual financial statements
- Deliver activities from 1 February 2021 through to 30 June 2022.
Prospective service providers are invited to present a service model to be delivered in the Greater Dandenong, Casey and Cardinia Local Government Areas, that: - Utilises the Black Dog Institute Lifespan model to guide the development, implementation and
evaluation of the activity as a whole
- Considers the current and ongoing impacts of COVID-19 on community needs
- Considers sustainability in all activities and plans
- Maximises efficiency of activities undertaken through the ongoing scoping of similar activities across the state. Collaborating and sharing information in order to build capacity where opportunities arise
- Applies a trauma-informed lens
- Incorporates lived-experience in the design and implementation of activities
- Where appropriate, ensures activities
are co-designed with the community

Free counselling for school-aged children
in south eastern Melbourne
SEMPHN is pleased to announce that Family Life will be delivering a free counselling service aimed at reducing and managing COVID-19 related stress and anxiety. This counselling service is aimed at school-aged children from Prep to Year 12, without a mental health diagnosis, who will benefit from a brief period of therapeutic support, to assist them to overcome stress or anxiety resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic.
Priority will be given to children aged 12 and under. The service is available across the south eastern Melbourne catchment until September 2021. Currently, counselling will be provided via a secure, online, telehealth (video) platform or over the phone. Face-to-face counselling will be available in the future in Sandringham and Frankston.
