Elder abuse

Shortly after Mary’s husband Norm died, her adult son Kevin moved in with her. Initially Mary enjoyed his company, and was pleased to help Kevin - he had recently lost his job. Soon after though, things changed. Kevin became increasingly angry, always asking Mary for money. Mary was frightened and worried. She was scared to say 'no' for fear of Kevin’s response and didn’t feel safe in her own home. Click here to read more

 

Family Harmony evening for Bangladeshi Community

The Can Get Health in Canterbury Project, will be holding a “Family Harmony” evening for the Bangladeshi community focusing on issues affecting family and child health. The evening will also incorporate the launch of a new domestic and family violence awareness video called ‘Just Reach Out’, and is specifically developed for the Bangladeshi community. Click here to read more

 

Engaging with culturally and linguistically diverse communities

Sydney is one of the most culturally and linguistically diverse cities in the world. In the former Canterbury local government area, for example, 45% of people were born in a country where English was not their first language. Click here to read more

 

2016 - 2018 Strategic Plan out now!

We are pleased to release our updated Strategic Plan 2016 - 2018. The Plan outlines our local heath and health service priorities, and the steps we will take to address these. The Plan has been informed by our baselines needs assessment and reviewed by our Board, Clinical Council and Community Council. The Plan covers our initial funding period to June 2018 and will be reviewed in line with ongoing funding cycles. Click here to view the Strategic Plan
