Must know information for dancing at Alert Level 2
So, here we are again - Alert Level 2. However, the good news is that we're still able to run classes and private lessons, but we do need to do things a little differently to keep everyone safe. Here's a reminder of our level 2 safety measures. Our safety measures- Instead of coming into the studio as soon as you arrive, please follow this process:
- If you are attending the first class of the evening, please wait (at a safe 1 metre distance) until the door has been opened by Michael or Kim.
- For all other classes, please wait (at a safe 1 metre distance) until all people from the previous class have exited the studio and Michael or Kim signal for you to enter.
- Classes are now 50 minutes. This will give you 5 minutes to leave at the conclusion of your class and for us to sanitise touchpoints, and then 5 minutes for
the next class to enter and get their dance shoes on.
- Please sanitise your hands when you enter. You’ll find hand sanitiser on the reception counter. We also have hand sanitiser beside the drinking fountain, and there's plenty of soap in both bathrooms for you to use.
- NZ COVID Tracer posters are on the front door and at reception. Please make sure you record your visit by scanning the QR code. It’s also important that you check in at reception before every class you attend, so our own records are correct.
- Please pay by eftpos. Our terminal can take contactless payment.
- Sorry, but the water cooler/drinking fountain
will not be available. Please make sure you bring plenty of water with you.
- Tables have been removed from the social area to reduce the number of surfaces you come into contact with.
- Chairs are spaced apart. We have also set out pairs of chairs – only sit in these chairs if you are with someone from your COVID-19 family/friend group.
- The number of dancers on the floor at any time will be limited. This will vary depending on the size and level of your class, as well as the dance style. Please be patient and kind.
- While we'll do our best to ensure physical distancing is in place, face coverings are encouraged.
- Unless you dance with someone who is in your COVID-19 family/friend group, you'll be dancing as individuals. No senior partners will be provided by us. We realise this will feel odd for some of you, but it’s actually very good for your dancing and will hold you in good stead for when you’re back dancing with someone. That’s because you will truly learn how to dance your own steps (you can’t fudge them on your own), and you'll be developing and improving your balance. Let’s not forget you’ll also still be getting some exercise and having a laugh with your dance mates.
- Finally, while we’d love to see you, please stay at home if you're feeling unwell, have been asked to self-isolate, have tested positive for
COVID-19 or are waiting for test results.
New beginner class postponedWhile we can operate safely at Alert Level 2, we are unable to provide partners for those attending on their own. For this reason we have decided to postpone the new beginner class, which was scheduled to start tomorrow night at 8pm. That class will now start on Tuesday, 23 February.
