MESSAGESA message from Jason Redman Finally – time to breath and relax with family and friends... This year has been massive and I would like to thank everyone on an individual basis, and collectively. Around the grounds we have performed fantastically well, and have taken the company to another level as far as people, projects and places are concerned: * Just recently we completed the Multiplex project in Melbourne which was a complete success...three cranes for 15 months...with a fantastic effort from the rigging team and the folks on site (well done VIC TEAM) * We completed the last crane dismantle of six units at Homebush for Meriton * We completed the structure at 229 Miller St North Sydney, including sliding the tower crane out of the lift shaft to ensure timely completion of the lifts, and to solve the materials handling on this project. Well done Team Reds. * We installed several grillages in unique, challenging positions without fault....well done to the fab team...something really special * We performed many critical works without fail...in excess of 50 movements this year alone * We celebrated 10 years in style (well done Team Reds) * We played hard Then finally, at the end of the year, we had a massive speed bump. Through managing this event we have grown, and we are forever grateful for the massive amount of support that came from within the company, and from external parties. To close out 2019 on a bang, we have just procured two Favelle 390s with 70 metre booms and one Favelle 630 also with 70 metre boom, as these units have projects to go to in the new year. We have also acquired another CTL 430, along with a new CTT 472 with super lift. I would like to remind/inform everyone that just recently we had one of our friends and workmates, Tony Carter, suffer a stroke. Tony is in the fight of his life and we extend a warm hug and lots of love from the REDS GLOBAL team to Tony and Deb, his wife. I also invite you to individually to reach out and let them know that we’re here, and that we want him to recover. On this note, it is very important that we all go out on a limb and tell our loved ones and friends that we love them. Give them a smile, hug, kiss (whatever’s appropriate) to ensure a clear, positive connection. You never know how life can twist and turn... But one thing I know for sure is that 2020 will bring with it new challenges and an extremely busy calendar! Watch this space (: Please remember that safety is our number one value and that we are the safe choice. PEOPLE AND EQUIPMENT! MERRY CHRISTMAS AND ALL THE BEST FOR THE NEW YEAR Cheers Jas RIGGING WORKS FINAL QUARTER 2019
FIRST AID TRAINING - September Another successful First Aid training day at Reds Global, Tony from CIRCA Solutions shared his knowledge and many stories with us. Our Emergency teams thought out Australia work incredibly hard and deal with many situations, the key to a successful recovery is stay calm and focussed. Thank you to Reds Global management for always keeping your people up to date on training. HEALTH AND SAFETY - October I trust this news letter finds you all well. We have had an interesting month with some learnings coming from different areas. We had a successful training day and from this we are in the final stages of updating Precast SWMS with a clear indication as to what is required. This was a great opportunity for the crew to refresh their knowledge on Precast as may not be on your current projects but without doubt will come across on future projects. A massive thankyou to Mark Baxter and Warwick Bright from Tower Crane Training Australia who helped with the Precast training. As most of you are aware we had an incident regarding gyprock pallet failing and we are adding this into the list of Reds Global NON NEGOTIABLE'S thanks to Anthony Tsiailas for drafting these up. Both the SWMS and NON NEGOTIABLE'S will become Live documents in the coming weeks any and all feedback is appreciated as you are the eyes and ears on the ground and are best suited to make suggestions on how to continue to carry out lifting operations in a safe and effective manner to best suit Reds Global and site productivity. Please be aware of your surroundings while moving around the job site. Ensure that areas are clear from tips hazards before lifting or landing loads. Sites can get very congested so be sure to take extra care in these areas. Try to be pro-active with the builder and inform them when site 'retail' space is getting limited in order to push trades to use their stock. Thanks for your time and see you all on site at some stage soon.
HEALTH AND SAFETY - November Staying hydrated and avoiding heat stress As the warmer months approach, it is extremely important that you are staying hydrated and consuming enough water and electrolytes through the course of the day. Drinks with high sugar, caffeine, in particular energy drinks, should be kept to a minimum as these type of drinks severely dehydrate the body. See chart below for a guide to hydration levels. HEALTH AND SAFETY - Crane documentation and records - December With the recent events of Smeaton Grange, it has further highlighted the importance of the following documentation and record keeping that must be done by our crane crews on every site, this includes: - Daily logbooks and ensuring these are sent to the Reds office every morning. - Noting in the daily check if there are any issues with the crane and to also communicate these issues to the maintenance department with a phone call. - Ensuring the daily maintenance checks are not just a tick and flick exercise and all check points are completed. - Ensuring site SWMS have been signed into by all Reds Global team members on site. Where there is a nominated team leader on site then the team leader MUST check this when a new member of the crane crew arrives on site, following a switch in crew members. - Ensuring the site toolbox talk is completed and updated as conditions and the site changes and if there are changes to the crane crew, then they must also sign into the toolbox. - Ensuring the daily lifting gear register is completed. Its each Crane Crews responsibility to ensure these items are completed and could potentially jeopardise your high risk work licence should they not be completed. REDS GLOBAL PAINTING TEAM Gerry Smedts and his good friend Graham, volunteered at the Betoota Races last month, they had a wonderful day in Birdsville. Thank you for your time. WEEKLY PAPERWORK - Meeting most of you on the Training day was great, its always good to put a name to a face. I would like to acknowledge Max Kentwell in this months newsletter. Max shares a quote on his daily time sheet which Stephanie gets to read and share with the rest of the ladies in the office. It's the small things in life that make the biggest impact. Thank you Max for taking the time to make someone else's day. I would like to share a few with you all., Its a great way to start a day.
Please ensure your daily paperwork is emailed first thing every morning to maintenance@redsglobal.com and your weekly paperwork is emailed first thing on a Monday morning to admin@redsglobal.com. We are also requesting your generator reports to be sent through every day. Send all files as a PDF. Tiny Scanner is a simple and free application on Apple and Android. R U OK - October is Mental Health Month Please remember to ask your fellow co worker every now and again, if they are ok? Mental illness is a huge issue and checking in with someone, goes a long way... HEALTH AND WELL BEING What does Health and Wellness mean? Wellness is an active process of becoming aware of and making choices toward a healthy and fulfilling life. Wellness is more than being free from illness, it is a dynamic process of change and growth. "...a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being, and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity." When making changes to your lifestyle try and consider doing ONE thing consistently rather than many things all at once. A complete change may not be sustainable and rather than being a one week or one month wonder (like a quick sugar rush that leaves you feeling flat) rather embrace smaller changes and create daily rituals that become habitual and take almost no energy to do them. A bit like getting dressed, drinking tea or brushing your teeth. That said, it’s absolutely true that when you tweak your lifestyle habits around how you eat, how you move, how you rest or how you think and feel ... the results can be, “INCREDIBLE!”. Here’s to your excellent wellbeing and health, one small step at a time! #healthandwellbeing SPORTS - November Ryan Hayes and Anthony Rodriguez qualified for the"Elite" category of the Spartan Endurance race series in May, and in November they competed in Bright, Victoria in the Spartan Trifecta weekend which consists of 3 different bush/mountain/mud/river/military obstacles etc Races thru the mountains.
