Defence and cyber security have been high on the agenda for the Prime Minister during visits this week to troops and leaders in the Middle East and meetings with US Defence Secretary Ash Carter and President Obama in Washington. Significantly, Minister Payne has also been talking with her counterparts in Europe regarding counter-Daesh cooperation and has confirmed the White Paper will be released this quarter.
Closer to home, ADM Editor Katherine Ziesing reports on the long overdue signing of the Sea 1770 Maritime Rapid Environmental Assessment capability contract with Lockheed Martin IS&GS after delays incurred by the LHD program.
The transition team responsible for the development of the new training curriculum under Air 5428 are now in Switzerland getting to grips with the Pilatus PC-21.
In other news, Army will receive new Medium Girder Bridges and Dry Support Bridges under the Land 155 contract signed by WFEL and Philip Smart looks at the Red Baron cram course developed for ADF pilot flight screening candidates.
Finally, January 22 marks the deadline for applications to join Team Defence Australia's trade mission to the US in May.
