From the exploration of people and culture, to natural resources and the environment, the hard work of our students, teachers, and support staff was evident. Thank you to all of the families that came out to support this celebration of learning! Jog-A-Thon ProceedsJog-A-Thon totals are in, and we are excited to share that this year’s event raised $19,227 towards our $150,000 fundraising goal in support of UDA’s enrichment programs, classroom projects, and field trips! Congratulations to Ms. Martinez’s kindergarten class on earning a pizza party for having the most classroom participation on PledgeStar. In addition, congratulations to Ayanna J. in 5th grade for acquiring the most pledges and earning the coveted “Principal for a Day Award.” Thank you to our corporate sponsors and those who donated pledges, our volunteers, Coach Giezek, families in attendance, and our students for making this event a success! FINAL Day to Register for Conference Day ProgrammingToday is the final day to register for Conference Day Programming! Parent/teacher conferences will be held on March 6, 7, and 8 (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday). Students will be released at 12pm on each of these days, and free programming will be provided until 3pm in order to accommodate families on Tuesday and Thursday, since these are regularly full school days. If your child will attend STAR on Tuesday or Thursday, you must register him/her for Conference Day Programming. Students will eat a lunch from home or a purchased lunch from Top Notch on these days. At 3pm, students will be released from the parking lot like usual, however, parents may pick up their child before 3pm if they wish. You must complete a registration form for EACH day you would like to enroll your child by Sunday, March 4. Students who are not registered by this date will not be permitted to participate. Camp Urban SolThis summer, the UDA Foundation will once again host Camp Urban Sol, an assortment of half-day courses taught by credentialed teachers. Participating students will continue to learn over summer through hands-on activities, experiments, community adventures and play. July 9-August 3, 2018 Book FairThe Scholastic Book Fair will return to UDA this week! The Paws for Books themed fair will be open to students and families before and after school from March 2-8. Proceeds from the book fair enable UDA to earn Scholastic funds to use for library and classroom materials. Sales Hours THANK YOU to our amazing Network of parents for all of their help with this exciting event! Wednesday Programming RegistrationA new session of Wednesday Programming begins March 14. All of these enriching programs are run by local vendors from 12-2pm at UDA every Wednesday. Classes include art, bootcamp, coding, comics, karate, musical theater, piano keyboard, STEM, and yoga. Wednesday Programming PerformancesOn Wednesday, March 7, students from two of our Wednesday Programs will showcase musical performances highlighting their learning throughout the second trimester. A Message from Network ParentsShine Day Earth Day Amazon Smile Top Notch LunchesTo order a hot lunch for your child, first create an account with Top Notch. User accounts from last year do not carry over, so all parents must register for the 2017-2018 year. To register, click on “Order Online Today” from the homepage, then select “Register.” On this page, you will need to enter the password for UDA, which is URA6. Upon entering the password, you will be able to complete the registration process by creating your own username and password. Families that meet the free or reduced qualification according to this form will receive discounted Top Notch lunches. The discount will be automatically applied to each order. Online orders must be placed by 6pm on the day before the lunch delivery. Top Notch can not supply lunches requested after this deadline. Reporting AbsencesPlease remember to report student absences by 9:00 am on the day of your child’s absence. To report an absence, you may call the main line at 619-788-4668 and press option #2 to leave a message, or you may send an email to attendance@urbansd.com.
