From the Archives... Guelph's Anniversary
Taken in September 1980, this photograph shows a City of Guelph worker applying a new coat of paint to a statue of John Galt. The statue was erected in front of the old city hall a year before, in 1979, to mark the centennial anniversary of Guelph as a city. Although Guelph was established on April 23, 1827, it did not achieve a city status until April 1879.
