Lights On

By Mentee Aaliyana Garcia

Initially, when setting out to write my personal statement, I saw it as an assignment, not as a story I wanted to tell. I finally landed on this idea thanks to my work with my mentor Rachel and a Girls Write Now college writing workshop. Writing about my desire to perform musical theatre made me fall in love with my craft more and more as I kept working on this essay.

Prompt of the Week

From Print 360 Staff Lead,
Emily Mendelson

Dream big! Imagine what kind of publications you want to see in the world. Describe the zine, literary magazine—or platform of your choice—that you might like to create.

What ideas, concepts, or themes do you want to see in magazines but don't exist in any publication or you don't see enough of?  What kind of work would you like to publish? Who do you hope would reach your publication?
