A few words from Tim...

Welcome to our Newsletter! I am Tim, MD of Plunkett Associates.

It's been brought to my attention that many of you may be reading this for the first time and so I thought it was about time, and only polite, to introduce myself and Plunkett Associates to you.

Tim Plunkett

In a nutshell, I have been in the prototyping and production business for almost 30 years and am well known for thinking outside the box. I like to think I am pretty good at dealing with even the most complex of geometries!

Plunkett Associates is my 3rd company, small, bespoke and I like to think we are well able to offer high levels of support for all phases of your project development from early prototypes, through to machining, tooling and moulding, in low to high volumes.

In addition, recently I set up Adept Precision, Plunkett’s Tooling and Moulding partner, giving us accessible facilities in both the UK and the Far East* and a powerful set of solutions at our disposal to assist you in product development and manufacture.

I/we are always happy to discuss options, and if we can’t help, I'm the first to hold my hand up, and even if we can't, we'll usually know someone else who can!

(*Note: With regard to the recent shutdown in China due to the Coronavirus outbreak, we are pleased to report our partners out there are now open again.)

Remaining at your service,

Plunkett Associates

Prototyping to production

We admit it, we are technology tarts!

Prototyping to Production

The word ‘prototype’ is confusing! We used to think this meant only 1 or 2 parts and could only be achieved economically through Additive Manufacturing processes.

Today, however, that is certainly not the case and options are limitless and exciting!

We apply both additive manufacturing techniques and more conventional subtractive techniques to the direct manufacture or use tooling and moulding for a wide range of batch sizes where others fear to tread!

Aluminium tooling

Need T1 samples in 15 days?

Tooling and Moulding

Our toolmakers are highly skilled at using tooling grade aluminium (rather than steel) for lower volume tools, which reduces both cost and manufacturing time for our clients.

Part quantities from less than 10 through to over a thousand are feasible.

In addition, tools can be adapted through standardized bolsters and loose inserts, and it may also be viable to post machine features or threads, rather than incorporate them in the tooling.

The result? Moulded parts in around 5 to 15 days!
