Summer loving

Hello ,
How Are YOU? It's good to be in touch again. Sorry for the silence. I have been unable to work for a couple of months due to shoulder pain and crushing fatigue. Apparently this is Polymyalgia and will respond slowly but well to treatment. So I am learning patience and pacing and what's most important. And do you know what? PaperLove is what matters. Getting pen to paper, ink on the brush, scissors round the shapes, stamps on envelopes.....That's what keeps me going.

Thank you for subscribing. Thank you for spreading the word. Thank you for your messages. Thank you especially for snail mail and chocolate - you have brought me to tears.

June 2nd

The best news is that PaperLove, the world's first all-paper e-course, starts on June 2nd.

Five weeks of discovery and exploration through the wide realms of PAPER, COLLAGE, WORD, BOOK and MAIL.

I'm delighted to report that the classroom is all shining and ready. There is room for more passionate paper people: Register here and please do tell anyone who'd enjoy the experience along with you.

Follow the countdown on the blog then join me and Do What You Love for a paper adventure.

Island Retreats

This Spring's workshops on remote Scottish islands were a joy to teach.

In March there was Soul Journalling on Iona. A driftwood binding retreat with paint and sea glass, illuminated manuscripts and wild landscapes. The hostel held us warm. A sure return is planned for 2015. You'll know the date as soon as possible.

Paper Folding For Book Lovers: The annual Shetland Lighthouse workshop saw careful construction and liberated inkery. Inbetween binding and creating there were puffin hunting trips, cliff top walks and sailing boat spotting. Next year's dates are set for 24th - 27th April. The theme will be Collage Collections.

Do you have an island for retreating to?

PaperLove Cities

Two particularly special events this winter are growing as more inspiration and must-see places are revealed through research and rigorous planning.

In Venice the Personal Geographies book art workshop runs from 20th to 24th October inclusive. Pigments, palazzos, artisan book artists, gelato and paper exploration.... And fabulous canal-side vinoteca too.

The ridiculously sparkling and charming city of Paris is the splendid location for five days of Paperie 25th - 29th November. Flea markets, boutiques, galleries, paper emporium and pastries.

Read more about both courses here. E-mail me directly to book.

Thinking and linking

Gosh i'm loving the eye candy that is Instagram, particularly the current deliciousness of the National Stationery Show. Oh to be in New York seeing it all for real. PaperHazell's Instagram feed catches paper's light in books and on envelopes. Come and join the party.

Another treasure trove of inspiration is Pinterest, whose boards are filling with the best bookish, colourful, creative gems.

All the soundbytes collected in the Good Life Project make feel-good listening. What's essential for you?

Strawberries and watermelons in the post? Fruity downloads served up by Mini Eco. Mmmm refreshing.

Mademoiselle Maurice creates extraordinary rainbow origami installations with a purpose. Amazing.

Keep on gathering, Rachel
