Functional impacts of vision loss CPD event Join us for an education session and live case study on how you can assist your patients with the functional impacts of vision loss at the CESPHN Office in Mascot on Wednesday 29 May. This CPD event cannot be missed! EOI - Drug and Alcohol Advisory Committee Central and Eastern Sydney PHN is seeking Expressions of Interest for representatives to join the CESPHN Drug and Alcohol Advisory Committee. The committee provides a forum for discussion of key policy changes and developments impacting the AOD sector and identifies suitable strategies and activities to achieve common goals in relation to improving local service provision and client outcomes. GLAD (GP Liaison in Alcohol and other Drug Project) GLAD is a multidisciplinary team, made up of doctors and nurses providing specialist advice to GPs for chronic and complex AOD issues. New occupational cancer e-learning module for GPs In some Australian workplaces, employees are exposed to a diverse range of carcinogens at high concentrations and for long periods of time. It is essential GPs have the knowledge and skills to be able to assist patients in monitoring their health, identifying potential risks and be able to provide or direct patients to further information. Cancer Council has developed a 60 minute RACGP and ACRRM accredited e-learning module to increase GPs awareness of workplace carcinogens and cancers. Multicultural Primary Care Cancer Forum The Cancer Institute NSW and CESPHN is delighted to invite you to the inaugural Multicultural Primary Care Cancer Forum opened by Professor David Currows. The activity is has been accredited with 4 Category 2 points in RACGP QI & CPD Program for the 2017-2019 triennium. Free webinars to earn CPD Points To further up-skill GPs, the team of psychiatrists from the GP Psychiatry Support Line are screening a series of webinars. These are accredited for professional development points by the RACGP, as well as the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine. These activities are designed for GPs, provided for free, and has already proved to be popular. In the second webinar, Professor Sadanand Rajkumar joins Dr Martin Cohen to discuss depression and mental health in older people. Rent a fridge during influenza season! Practices who do not have the capacity to accommodate storage for the extra influenza vaccines during flu season have the option to rent a fridge and data logger for three months. Children and Families Hub launches in Rockdale to improve local educational outcomes An innovative partnership between local community, education and health organisations has launched a unique service to help address developmental challenges in children aged under five years in the Rockdale area. GPs wishing to refer to the service or enquiring about child developmental screening can find more information here. Tricks of the BMI trade Accurate recording of BMI is widely regarded as an appropriate risk measure for our patients. According to our May POLAR data, only 44.2 per cent of CESPHN's 573,000 RACGP active patients have a BMI recorded in their medical record. We encourage all our practices to share their ideas on how we can improve our statistics across the whole of CESPHN. Survey: Help to better understand client decision making needs Are you a clinician who sees patients/clients for problematic alcohol use and comorbid depression? Researchers at the University of Sydney are surveying clinicians who manage/treat people with problematic alcohol use and comorbid depression to gain clinical insights into their patients/clients’ treatment decision-making needs, and to inform innovative decision-support tools. Senior Medical Officer position available Balmain hospital has a Senior Medical Officer - GP Casualty position available on a temporary part time basis. You will be providing senior medical services and assisting the Director in managing Balmain GP Casualty and HITH. SESLHD Service Directory Survey South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) is developing a user-friendly directory of SESLHD services. This will be provided online and available to staff, patients, health professionals and the community. The service directory will contain detailed information which will make it easier to find, contact and access our health care services. The project is being led by SESLHD’s Integrated Care Unit, in partnership with key stakeholders such as the NSW Ministry of Health. It is anticipated the service directory will be available to the public before the end of 2019. We would like all stakeholders to have the opportunity to have in a say in the planning of the project and highlight what staff, health providers and the community need when searching for a service.

Innovation Week is held in June of each year as an opportunity to showcase services, share ideas, network and to collaborate to continue to improve patient care. The theme this year is "Imagine, Transform, Lead" and will focus on experience. Innovation Week will be held from 24-30 June 2019. Mood Active free well-being workout programs Exercise your way to better mental health! Free places are available in the upcoming "4-week Well-being Workout" programs. Each session is 2.5 hours of motivation/resilience strategies followed by 60 minutes of exercise class. Programs are now running at Rockdale (new location), The Rocks, and Camperdown. An eight week program is also available, refer to the website for all locations and dates.
