A resident of Adamjee Camp who came to FPO's Adamjee Health Clinic for monetary support earlier this year to treat her cancer which she was diagnosed with in 2017. She's an orphan with a 15 year old brother to care for. Moni Akhter faced difficult times after her parents death but then she discovered she had cancer in 2017. FPO gave her monetary help for her chemotherapy courses and Alhamdulliah she has been freed of her cancer. May Allah grant her continued good health to provide for her and her brother. Meet Mr Mansoor Ahmed. Mr Ahmed has a history of eye problem and was in need of an eye operation. FPO's healthcare program provided him with medicine & monetary funds for his eye operation. Salma Begum, another resident of Adamjee Camp in Bangladesh. Salma was diagnosed with a chest tumor and needed surgery. We provided Ms Salma the funds for her surgery. Her name is Baby Begum, she's a kidney patient. We provide the funds for her dialysis expenses. Mr. Shahid is diagnosed with tuberculosis and needed financial support for all test & medications. Our healthcare center provided him the funds for all medical treatments. These are just some of the many patients that received help from FPO's Healthcare Program. Our clinic served over 2000 patients in 2018. Our health care officials strive to help as many patients on a daily basis to provide for their healthcare needs. HOME GARDENING PROGRAM"Give a man a fish, and you'll feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, and you've fed him for a lifetime."We can feed them a meal, but what about the next days meal? Our FPO "Home Gardening Program" provides each family vegetable seedlings (Okra, Spinach, Squash, Cucumber, Tomatoes, eggplant) and two fruit trees (Guava & Mango Trees. We started this program in August, 2018 by providing 50 families with these seedlings & fruit trees. Alhamdullilah the results after 2 months was amazing, these families now have their own garden of vegetables & fruits to provide them with daily food necessities. The families have reached out to FPO"s staff to thank them for this great initiative. Thanks to all who donated & supported our "HOME GARDEN PROGRAM". Thanks to FPO's Community Facilitator, Ms Sheila & Ms Parveen for distributing the Seedlings & Trees and educating them about the importance of self-empowerment.The Vegetable Results After 4 Months in PlantingEMPOWERMENT PROGRAMAlong with our "Home Gardening Program" is our "Empowerment Program". We believe that everyone is capable of providing for themselves. Last quarter we introduced FPO's "Help Them, Help Themselves" campaign program. We leased a small house for education & training purposes. In August, 2018 we started our sewing class to teach young ladies & women on how to use a sewing machine. After the completion of the class we provide them with a "Foot Operated Sewing Machine" to help empower them. We also offer empowerment classes to young ladies & woman who are interested in learning how to make "Resusable Sanitary Pads" & "Natural Soap Making" for local distribution & marketing. These are just some of the empowerment classes we offer in hopes for them to start a small business of their own. Training Center Ladies in Training HOME IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM (Adamjee Camp, Narayanganj)Bangladesh is notorius for their "Monsoon Rain", a heavy rainful that causes most homes in Adamjee to be vulnerable to leaky roofs. Some families struggle to live in their homes due to rain water leaks. Due to lack of funds, most families are unable to replace their leaky roofs with metal roofing and resort to using polythene (a type of plastic made into thin sheets. We all know that thin sheets does not hold up well in heavy rainfall conditions. We started our "Home Improvement Program" to help families in need of repair of their homes. So many homes in Adamjee are in need of repair, but the number of homes in need of repair outweighs the funds to support this program. Can we count on you to help them stay dry in their homes by donating & supporting this program? Community Facilitator, Ms Parveen educating young ladies on "Effective Menstrual Hygiene" and its relation to health, dignity, empowerment & productivity. The Door to Door Class educates the young ladies on how poor menstrual hygiene may cause ill health if not managed properly. In order to manage menstruation hygienically, its important that girls & women have access to clean water & sanitation. They are also taught the importance of using clean water & soap for washing their hands & bodies. WASTE MANAGEMENT PROGRAMAn educational program that trains the residence of Adamjee Camp on the importance of having & keeping a clean environment. Hygiene & Cleanliness, the two main factors that contribute to a persons well being. Our team organized door to door meetings with residential families to train them in how to clean, organize & maintain their living environment. We have been working with the residents since 2016 and the change in their environment is amazing. See The Transformation Below Meet Hira and Rawsan.
