Student Government Leader Talks College Debt in Washington 

Student Government Association President Tralen Neal traveled to Washington DC this week to participate in a roundtable discussion about student debt, hosted by U.S. Sens. Mark R. Warner and Tim Kaine. Mary Baldwin College was one of about 15 Virginia schools represented at the event to allow lawmakers to hear how student loan debt impacts young people and their plans for the future. Read more >>

 

Alumna Publishes Research on Cocaine 

As a scholar and student leader, Krittika Krishnan ’12 certainly made her mark on Mary Baldwin as the first international student and first student in the Program for the Exceptionally gifted elected Student Government Association president. Now she continues to put the research and leadership skills honed at MBC to work in graduate school, where she served on a team at the University of Texas looking at hormonal interactions and drug abuse. Her research was recently featured on nature.com and published in the journal NeuropsychopharmacologyRead more >>

 

'Academics First, Safety Always' 

Criminal justice major Dominique Munn knows that there are safety measures already in place on the Mary Baldwin campus, and students are generally aware of potential threats around them. But by bringing a chapter of the fast-growing organization Help Save the Next Girl, Munn is helping elevate awareness of predatory danger, and hopefully preventing a tragedy. Tomorrow from 2 to 4 p.m. Munn and other student organizers will kick off the launch of the chapter in the Student Activities Center ballroom. Students to Debate Ethics and Civic Responsibility at Annual Ethics Bowl 

Four students from Mary Baldwin College will participate in The Virginia Foundation for Independent Colleges 17th annual statewide collegiate Wells Fargo Ethics Bowl on January 31 to February 1 on the campus of Hollins University in Roanoke.  Read more >>
