No Images? Click here UDA Weekly UpdateFebruary 18, 2018Conference Day ProgrammingThis trimester, parent/teacher conferences will be held on March 6, 7, and 8 (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday). Students will be released at 12pm on each of these days, and free programming will be provided until 3pm in order to accommodate families on Tuesday and Thursday, since these are regularly full school days. If your child will attend STAR on Tuesday or Thursday, you must register him/her for Conference Day Programming. Students will eat a lunch from home or a purchased lunch from Top Notch on these days. At 3pm, students will be released from the parking lot like usual, however, parents may pick up their child before 3pm if they wish. You must complete a registration form for EACH day you would like to enroll your child by Sunday, March 4. Students who are not registered by this date will not be permitted to participate. Trimester 2 Exhibition NightsSave the date! Please join our TK-4th grade students for an exhibition of their trimester 2 projects on the evening of Wednesday, February 28, and our 5th-8th grade students on Thursday, March 1. In addition, Panera Bread will donate 20% of its proceeds from purchases by UDA families and friends to The Foundation from 4-8pm on each Exhibition Night (Present a flyer for Wednesday and/or Thursday at time of ordering). Stay tuned for more details on this celebration of learning. Meet Taylor CaldwellWe are excited to welcome Taylor Caldwell to UDA as a 4th grade long-term substitute! Ms. Caldwell is originally from the LA area, and received a bachelors in Liberal Studies, a minor in Child Development, and a multiple subject teaching credential from California State University Chico. She has experience teaching upper elementary, middle school, and GATE. In her free time she enjoys hiking, traveling, and attending concerts of various genres. Ms. Caldwell is eager to get to know our students and families, and is looking forward to the trimester ahead. 2018-2019 Applications Due this MonthFamilies that are interested in enrolling a sibling of a student currently enrolled at UDA must submit an application for each sibling by February 28, 2018 through SchoolMint. Similarly, if any friends of our current families are interested in enrolling a student, please remind them that all applications must be submitted by February 28 in order to be entered into the lottery. Online Uniform OrdersIf you placed an online order on or before February 5, your order will ready for pick-up at UDA on the afternoon of February 23. The window for online orders is now closed. Orders may not be placed until the next online ordering window opens; stay tuned for more information. ELAC MeetingOn Thursday, February 22, UDA’s English Language Advisory Committee (ELAC) will meet from 5-6pm in the conference room. The primary functions of this committee are to make recommendations regarding programming and supports offered by the school to English Learners, identify potential school-related challenges faced by students and families and offer resources, and increase the voice and participation of underrepresented families. This meeting is open to all families. We hope to see you there! KindergartenStudents is Ms. Martinez’s class proudly displayed their personalized 100 days of school attire during a parade and kinders in Ms. Sirmbardis’ class participated in 100 days of school themed activities with their 3rd grade buddies. User accounts from last year do not carry over, so all parents must register for the 2017-2018 year. To register, click on “Order Online Today” from the homepage, then select “Register.” On this page, you will need to enter the password for UDA, which is URA6. Upon entering the password, you will be able to complete the registration process by creating your own username and password. Families that meet the free or reduced qualification according to this form will receive discounted Top Notch lunches. The discount will be automatically applied to each order. Online orders must be placed by 6pm on the day before the lunch delivery. Top Notch can not supply lunches requested after this deadline. Reporting AbsencesPlease remember to report student absences by 9:00 am on the day of your child’s absence. To report an absence, you may call the main line at 619-788-4668 and press option #2 to leave a message, or you may send an email to attendance@urbansd.com.
