We have a lot of great articles in this month's issue of The Squeal. The SCCA Foundation is raffling off 3 amazing prizes that will appeal to all gear heads!  Alan Lesher provided an interesting article, that PA Lawmakers just passed June 10 - 17 as "Motorsports Week".  It's pretty exciting that we get a week to celebrate our hobby, (not like we've needed an excuse before, but now it's official).

Our last Autocross at the Farm Show complex was my first Susquehanna event, and I had a blast!  I held my ground, and kept the MR2 from doing circles, so all-in-all, it was a great event for me personally.  I hope to see everyone July 2nd for our next Autocross event!

Note from the RE

Hey everyone! Last month when the Squeal came out I was in Wisconsin racing at Road America. This month, I just wrapped up a race at Indianapolis Speedway and, as you read this, I’m racing at Mid Ohio Sports Car Course. Safe to say I’ve been a busy woman, so just a quick note this month!

I want to say thank you to a few key people who have been instrumental in some recent positive changes in the region, and taking some of the workload off of me personally to allow me to focus on other responsibilities as your RE. First, Doug Austin, who has worked tirelessly to book new venues for both our monthly meetings and our year-end banquet. You keep us running smoothly! Secondly, to Melissa Mauro, who took over Squeal publication a couple of months ago and never looked back. Your willingness to hop right in has been a real blessing to me personally. And third, to Zach McCune who has taken over as Registration Chief for our autocross events and was instrumental in our move to iPads for registration. You’re all in good (tech-savvy) hands with this guy as chief!

After many years of service to the Susquehanna Region, Geoff Craig has decided to take a well deserved break from the Solo co-Chair duties. Geoff designed his last course for the Farm Show double-header on May 28th, and we expect to continue to see him making his way around the cones at our remaining events this year. Under Geoff's leadership, our Solo program has expanded in recent years and continues to attract drivers from neighboring regions for both our Hershey and Farm Show events. Please join me in thanking Geoff for his contributions to both our club and our sport.

RallyCross Event #2 - POSTPONED

Due to the excessive amount of rain from Tropical Storm Cindy, we did not feel that our divisional rallycross event scheduled for today, June 24th, would be safe or enjoyable for the competitors. This divisional event has been tentatively postponed to our next event scheduled July 15th, pending approval. If you were registered for this event but are unable to attend July 15th, please log in to MotorsportReg to cancel your registration.

Upcoming Farm Show Doubleheader - July 2nd

The first Farm Show Autocross was a great success.  Many thanks are in order.  First and foremost, Thank you to Geoff Craig.  Your final course design was a blast, and we will miss running the courses you've provided for our club.  Thank you to our event chiefs and volunteers, without you, we wouldn't be able to have the great events we do.   Don't miss out on the fun, and register for the next Farm Show event on July 2!

New Informational Videos On Our Website

One of our region members, Russ Addie, was kind enough to make informational videos on "What to Expect" at Autocross and Rallycross Events.  As many of you reading this may be veterans, we all know people who are interested in racing, but don't know what to expect.  This is a great resource for anyone who is new to the sport, or just wants to know what we're all about.  Thanks Russ for taking the time to put these together!

Motorsports Industry Meets with Lawmakers at Pennsylvania State Capitol - and Resolution Unanimously Voted to Declare June 10-17 "Motorsports Week" in the Commonweath

Members of the Motorsports Industry came from all over the State of Pennsylvania on Tuesday, where they gathered at the State Capitol to participate in the United States Motorsports Association's PA Motorsports Rally.  The day began with a visit to the House floor where representatives of Maple Grove Raceway, Williams Grove Speedway, High Point Raceway, Pitt-Race and Mike Hepp Racing were recognized.
