RACGP hosted webinars - Secondary use of general practice data In health care, the primary source of data is through clinical care delivery to patients. When this data is used outside of the general practice setting, for purposes other than which it was originally collected, it is referred to as 'secondary use of data'. Secondary use of data includes activities such as research, quality and safety measurement, provider certification or accreditation and marketing. This webinar is designed to provide decision-making support to assist GPs and practice teams in deciding whether it is appropriate to release de-identified healthcare data at the request of an external organisation. GPs needed for a single focus group or phone interview - asthma management research You are invited to take part in a research study which aims to develop and pilot resources to improve adherence to asthma medicines. Previous research shows that cost is an important factor in people’s decisions about asthma medicines but both GPs and pharmacists may be unaware that cost is an issue for their patients. As community pharmacists are present when cost-related decisions are being made at the point of purchase, they are well placed to identify guideline-based treatment strategies to reduce asthma medicine costs for patients that could be communicated to the patient’s doctor. GP input into the feasibility and acceptability of this approach is key. The study involves a single focus group of around one hour’s duration or a telephone
interview of around 30 minutes and light refreshments for any focus group will be provided. You are invited to take part in this study if you are a GP registered to practice in NSW. Department of Social Services - NDIS Participant Experience Survey The Australian Government is working to improve the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) experience for people with disability, their families and carers. To do this, the Department of Social Services are reviewing the National Disability Insurance Scheme Act 2013 (the NDIS Act). The review will help DSS to develop a new set of standards known as the NDIS Participant Service Guarantee (the Guarantee), to be introduced by mid-2020. Once the Guarantee is implemented, the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) will need to make decisions about people’s plans within the timeframe set by the Guarantee. This means people will know how long the NDIA will take to make a decision about their supports. The survey is designed for NDIS
participants or people who provide care and support for NDIS participants.
