Leap into February! It might be the shortest month, but it is a very special month at the State Library. We've joined with FRINGE WORLD, the National Library of Australia and The West Australian to bring some special activities to you. Read on ...

'Seven' 1-7 February

Join in and help create ‘Seven’ for FRINGE WORLD. All visitors to the State Library from Monday 1 February to Sunday 7 February are invited to submit a single line of seven consecutive words drawn from the seventh line from the seventh page of any publication from the State Library's shelves. The submitted line, together with the six previous lines from other readers, will be broadcast at seven minutes past the hour as a seven-line poem on the Perth Cultural Centre’s outdoor screen.

Seven is FREE to participate. It runs Mon-Fri 1-5 Feb from 9am-5pm and Sat-Sun 6-7 Feb from 10am-4pm.  For more information click here.

The Seymour Biography Lecture, 14 February

Join one of our favourite author's and The West Australian's weekly columnist Robert Drewe at the State Library for his presentation of The Seymour Biography Lecture.  The Lecture is supported by Dr John and Mrs Heather Seymour AO, in association with the National Library of Australia.

Our Love Affair with the Beach – Images from our Collection, 14 February to 31 March

See an extraordinary display of images that show how we have played and stayed at the beach across the decades, from sun-up to sun-down. This display is free from Sunday 14 February to Thursday 31 March in the State Library Ground Floor Gallery.
