News

Tour de France

Cycling's most famous race started on Saturday 2nd July with the Grand Depart from Mont-Saint-Michel in Normandy.

If you're a fan of the event you're in for a treat as ITV4 will show a total of 70 hours of live cycling during the event and daily evening highlights for those of us who will be at work when the live action is on.

New Staff

Bike Town welcome a new team member in July. Andy McLean joins us as our new Training and Recycling Officer. He will be involved in our bicycle recycling programme, including the training and involvement of volunteers.

Andy will be learning all about Bike Town over the coming weeks, attending our activities and events so please give him a warm welcome when you meet him.

Women's 100k Challenge

Join the Stirling Cycle Hub Women’s 100 Challenge on a 100k ride (or 50k) on Sunday 17 July.

The Women’s 100 is an event originally brought to life by the clothing company Rapha and Stirling Cycle Hub invite you to join the fun.

The Women’s 100 ride is fun and social. It is not a sportive. The ride is all about inspiring and encouraging each other to ride and have a great day out together in the beautiful Forth Valley.

The ride will follow a figure-of-8 route allowing participants to complete 50k or the full 100k. A member of the cycle hub staff will travel as ride leader, providing route support, puncture repair assistance and a support car.

Check out the routes (may be subject to change) and join the fun by registering here.

Further information on the ride and the schedule click here.

I Cycle Because...

I Cycle Because

We've loved hearing everyone's reasons for cycling for our #ICycleBecause campaign. You can let us know why you cycle, if you haven't already, via Twitter and Facebook, or in person if you meet us at one of our events. Include @BikeTown and #ICycleBecause in your answer. There is a cycling goody bag for the best entry each month.

Watch our #ICycleBecause film here.

Cycling Ambassadors

We're still recruiting for our Cycling Ambassador scheme and hope to organise an information session and training soon. We want to hear from you if:

  • You regularly commute by bicycle
