Nurse-Family Partnership Face-to-Face Meeting

Twice a year home visiting nurse supervisors come together to share their knowledge and best practices in serving families through the Nurse-Family Partnership (NFP) program. Last month, the nurse supervisor's "Face to Face" meeting was held in San Antonio. The convening was attended by 22 home visiting nurse supervisors and staff from Texas Home Visiting, First3Years, The Safe Alliance, NFP National Service Office, Texas Child and Family Research Partnership and more. NFP Project Manager for Texas Home Visiting, Rachel Hardegree, says, "The in-person meeting is a great opportunity for nurse home visitors and program sites to share knowledge and resources related to the NFP model, reporting, best practices in getting referrals, and information sharing for serving families." Planning is underway for the fall Face to Face. If you are a nurse supervisor and want to help plan the meeting, contact Rachel.Hardegree@dfps.state.tx.us.

Celebrate Dads

As we celebrate Men's Health Week, June 13-19, 2016 and Father's Day on June 19, June is the perfect time to share health tips with dads. The purpose of Men’s Health Week is to heighten awareness of preventable health problems and encourage early detection and treatment of disease among men and boys. Healthy fathers are more available to emotionally and financially support their children and families. Modeling positive behavior through regular doctor appointments and adopting healthy habits is one of the best ways dads can encourage healthy behaviors in children.
