LAKESIDE NEWS FROM THE SPIRESA NOTE FROM OUR TEAMHappy New Year! By now, all our holiday fun has passed. My wish for you all is that it was a fulfilling time that was spent enjoying your family and friends. The beginning of any new year adds the exciting prospect for what the future holds. 2020 promises that in spades! I stopped coming up with New Year’s resolutions a long time ago. Instead, I pick a word to focus on for the year. My 2019 word was “stronger.” I can now do real push-ups and hold a plank longer than I ever thought I could! So, I end 2019 feeling like I accomplished something and am indeed stronger! ![]() So, what will my word be for 2020? There were so many choices that I mulled over. The semi-finalists were: Determined, Creative, Brave and Focused. The one I’ve chosen though, is “Adventurous.” We are embarking on an adventure together - a part of our grand life journey. We are daring and bold to go out on a road not yet paved or traveled! In doing so, we become the pioneers of The Spires at Berry College. We will forge ahead and create a brave new world that will be filled with friends, learning and purpose - all of which are important to our sense of discovery and fulfillment. The creating of a new settlement brings with it many unknowns. However, with planning, persistence, humor and determination we will arrive at a wondrous spot. This year will be the year of The Spires at Berry College and oh, what an adventure we will have! Laurie Steber, NEW DRONE FOOTAGE! ![]() We hope you enjoyed watching this latest footage as much as we did! Please remember that this is now an active construction site and, for safety reasons, we've been asked to refrain from visiting the area. Video cameras are actively recording activity and trespassing on the site. We will continue to post drone footage on a regular basis to keep you informed and up to date. ![]() Overcoming Mental and Emotional Barriers to Moving For many older adults the prospect of downsizing feels so daunting. However, in many ways the downsizing process isn’t altogether different regardless of the size of one’s home or property. Read this blog by our partner Brad Breeding from MyLifeSite to learn about some of the common obstacles that come with downsizing, along with the solutions to help ease the transition in to a CCRC.
