Pupils tried their hand at racing, javelin-throwing, zumba-dancing, shot-putt, long and high jump, table-tennis, rounders, boxercise, Gaelic Football, and frisbee. There was something for everyone to try, including some delicious al fresco fare supplied by the catering staff. There was a whole-school Sports Assembly held on Friday when pupils were presented with their medals and trophies. Well done to everyone who helped make this day such a great success. Leinster Cricket Union FinalLast week we played in the Leinster Cricket Union final against Wesley College. Our opponents won the toss and chose to bowl first. Unfortunately our batting didn't get off to a good start; our first three batters were out in the early overs. However, we quickly recovered and made a fantastic total of 125 runs. We bowled Wesley College out for 68 runs off 18 overs. Overall we performed well and we were really happy to come away with the win. Now we cannot wait for our 2019 summer season! Ireland U16 Hockey RepresentationCongratulations to Ben Whelan and Evan Jennings who represented The High School, Leinster, and Ireland at an Under 16 international hockey tournament in Moers Hockey Club, Düsseldorf recently. We played an Austria Under 18 team on Friday 18 May and drew 2-2 with them. The following day we played Germany but the game didn't go our way. On Sunday we played The Netherlands but despite playing very well we lost 4-1. Overall it was a really great trip. Pupils from The High School participated in the Leinster Schools Track and Field Championships last week with great success. Nathan Priestley was awarded a bronze medal for his performance in the Minor Boys 75 metre hurdles event. We are delighted by our the dedication shown by all of our athletes and we wish them every success in future competions. International Literature Festival DublinLast week a group of Form 5 pupils attended the International Literature Festival Dublin to hear Nigerian author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie be interviewed by journalist and broadcaster, Sinead Gleeson. We are so proud of Alison Landy who asked a pertinent question about feminism in front of a packed Conference Centre. It was such an inspring night for young feminists like us.
