No Images? Click here UDA Weekly UpdateNovember 5, 2017Wednesday ProgrammingStudents enrolled in Wednesday Programming are taking full advantage of these enriching opportunities on our minimum days. They are sketching, coding, performing, stretching, singing, and kicking their way into new learning experiences. The second trimester of programming will begin on Wednesday, November 29. Program options and registration information will be sent to families this week. Karate TournamentCongratulations to our UDA Karate Competition Team on their participation in the Martial Arts tournament on October 28. Tyler R., Noah R., Maya I., Henry A., and Camila R. each presented outstanding performances in their respective categories. Tyler took a 1st place in the "Forms" category and 2nd place in the sparring competition. In the Little Dragons category, Maya, Henry, Camila, and Noah performed with other 4-7 year olds from Arizona, California, and several states in Mexico, earning a beautiful award medal for their great performances as well. The event is named the World Tang Soo Do Association Region 20 Tournament and it is held annually here in San Diego. Tang Soo! Library Volunteers NeededConstruction on our beautiful new library has concluded, and we are looking for a few volunteers to help with the final organizational touches. If you are able to help, even for a short period of time, please meet in the library on Monday, November 6 at 12pm. Thank you for your support! Spelling BeeThis year, UDA’s annual spelling bee will be held on Friday, January 26. Teachers have distributed spelling bee information/registration packets, and extra copies of these packets and the word lists will be located in the front office. Interested students should submit signed entry forms to Ms. Dalesandro (4th grade) on or before Friday, December 15, 2017 (The day before Winter Break). Students who submit entry forms after this date will not be permitted to participate in the Bee. Happy spelling! When: Friday, January 26, 2018 @ 8:30am Geography BeeIt is time to put geography skills to the test in UDA’s annual National Geographic Bee! Students in grades 4-8 will compete for a chance to move forward to the California state level, hosted by National Geographic. Fourth through 8th grade students who are interested in participating in the Geography Bee should sign and return the registration form to Mr. Clay by December 15, 2017. The qualifying round, held at UDA, will take place on Friday, January 19, 2018 at 8:45am in Mr. Clay's room. IDEATE Information NightIdeate High Academy would like to invite families to attend a school tour and informational evening on Monday, November 6 from 6-7pm. Families will learn about the work UDA teachers have been engaging in since summer, specifically around math strategies, UDA's approach, and programs to help support students both in school and at home. Top Notch LunchesTo order a hot lunch for your child, please visit www.topnotchlunches.com to create an account for your child and place online orders. User accounts from last year do not carry over, so all parents must register for the 2017-2018 year. To register, click on “Order Online Today” from the homepage, then select “Register.” On this page, you will need to enter the password for UDA, which is URA6. Upon entering the password, you will be able to complete the registration process by creating your own username and password. Families that meet the free or reduced qualification according to this form will receive discounted Top Notch lunches. The discount will be automatically applied to each order. Online orders must be placed by 6pm on the day before the lunch delivery. Top Notch can not supply lunches requested after this deadline.
