CEO Update -04/12/2020 Dear JOYster! What an eventful and disruptive year 2020 has been for us all here at JOY, and across the world. I am extremely grateful that we have come through this challenging year together, as a united and even stronger JOY family, with our eye on a very bright future indeed. In this link, you can find the most important information related to the past AGM, including a link to our Annual Report 19/20, revealing the highlights and celebrating the successes of our team. All were made possible by the commitment of you our members, our volunteers, leadership team, and Board, donors, funders, patrons, sponsors and partners. Thank you so much for your investment in JOY – together we are building a more inclusive Australia. I would specifically like to thank one of our silent contributors who has made a huge impact in our success of this year, our pro-bono law firm K and L Gates. With their support we have navigated through various legal agreements and documentation this year, making JOY a more robust organisation. Many thanks to the K and L Gates team. As we progressively welcome back team members in a COVID Safe manner, it is beautiful timing to be reunited with our team over the coming festive season. You will hear the familiar voices live on JOY 94.9 with a huge smile on their faces, knowing that they are home again. Welcome back, we have missed you all. On behalf of all of us at JOY, I wish you all well for the festive season, and welcome you to listen and join in to our Christmas Day special, keeping our community connected at this time. Ange Barry Happy 27th Birthday, JOY!The anniversary of JOY's first broadcast on Wednesday 1 Dec 1993 and World AIDS Day are inextricably linked, as the JOY Story explains. Just as COVID-19 has shaken the world this year, so did AIDS from the 1980s right up to recent days when medication was able to control the effects of the epidemic. JOY came about in response to the loses and damage caused to our fledgling 'gay' community in the 1980s, and became a voice, which lives into this Century for our LGBTIQA+ community.
