Funding boost for conservation and land management in SA Arid Lands region
The SA Arid Lands NRM Board has secured $10m in funding for a number of projects across the region through the Australian Government's National Landcare Program. This includes conservation and land management programs across the SA Arid Lands region over the next one to five years.

Landscapes SA consultation
The South Australian Government is committed to reforming natural resources management, focussing on a back to basics approach.
Consultation on the reform, which will see the Natural Resources Management Act 2004 repealled and a new Landscapes SA Bill introduced in early 2019, occurred over a three month period, with five of the 26 community forums held in the SAAL region. A further 250 written submissions were provided.
A consultation report including all community feedback is now available.

Feral animal control in SA's Channel Country
An aerial operation to control wild pigs and large feral herbivores in the Channel Country of the State’s Far North has removed almost 1000 feral animals from the region.

William Creek weather station data online
Data from the recently installed weather station at William Creek is now available online thanks to a joint initiative by the SA Arid Lands NRM Board and the Outback Communities Authority (OCA).

Cat control a win for Flinders reptiles
A trial feral cat control baiting program has boosted reptile populations at Ikara Flinders Ranges National Park with 40 per cent more reptiles captured in sites that had been baited compared to the unbaited sites.

Are your bores compliant?
Water users in the Far North Prescribed Wells Area with a bore under their care and control are reminded that by 16 February 2019 they must be compliant, or working through an agreed program of works to become compliant, in accordance with area’s Water Allocation Plan.

Smart Farms Grants open
Funding is now open for Round Two of the Smart Farms Small Grants being offered through the National Landcare Program.
Grants are available for between $5000 to $200,000 to help farmers and groups to adapt to change, innovate and become more sustainable.

A new Established Weeds Facilitator will build on existing natural resources management and community weed management programs in the State’s North East Pastoral District.

Pastoral sector course at TAFE SA
A new pastoral sector course to be offered through TAFE SA in 2019 will provide station employers with an opportunity to upskill their staff. The Isolated Children’s Parent’s Association (ICPA - SA), Livestock SA and employers worked with TAFE SA to develop a program that will be beneficial for both existing and new workers to the pastoral industry.
